I first saw one about 5 years ago I had a mk2 golf gti and done a g60 conversion on it (supercharged it) and one night I saw four light come up behind me on the motor way quick it pulled along side me making a beutiful grumble so I thought yea lets burn it (still didnt know what it was as really dark) so I put my foot down so did he and it was gone. It took a couple of days researching to find a jap car with 4 front lights and found the gen 6 gt4 and loved it I thought yes this is my next car well insurance was through the roof and they where expensive so done a little more digging and found the gt and affordable I saw about 10 different cars travel all round the country till one turned up and it was perfect went and drove it loved it bought there and then and took it home. Im now on my second celica and dont want any other car.

The face does change to but u can pull the needle off and swap the faces over.

Right description is remove thw dash unit then once the dash unit is out remove the 2 phillips screws for the clear front cover and unclip it all the way round and pull off then unclip the black surrond that separates the dials. Then on the back of the unit there are 4 small Phillips screws that attach the speedo unit to the dash and is also the contact point for the feeds in note that the screws do not come out thwy stay in place once all are undone wiggle the speedo unit away from dash unit put new unit in and reverse order. After trying this on my own car being an import and swapping to uk speedo I can say that it will now count in miles as its determined by the speed of the motoe in the speedo rather than what its told so a dash in km the motoe that turns the numbers spins faster than the motor thats in miles hopes this makes sense if not pm me your number and I can talk you through the process. Could u use the light unit out of your st??

Well I have found that if u get a set of uk clocks u can swap just the speedo unit out of the middle over and works in miles just done it on mine.

Yea I just tried it as found some clocks cheap and thought why not whats the worst that can happen and it works.

thays what I thought bout the converter but I have been monitoring my mileage hit the trip switch and drove to Bournemouth which according to sat nav is 52 miles away just as I got to the car park at bournemouth my mileage had just clicked over to 51 miles so I think its all in the speed of the motor turning the numbers that determine whether its km or miles.

Private road of course dont want to be getting into any trouble.

Right I can report a uk spec speedo clock unit is not a direct replacement as in u cant just un plug and plug a new one in but what is direct is the speedo clock unit itself in the dash pod (hope makes sense) so what I done was removed my old speedo un done the front plastic see through glass thing un done the four small Phillips screws on the back and pulled the speedo out placed in the uk speedo clocks that count miles in miles and rebuily went and tested it on a private road and whoopy the speed limiter is gone 2 I stopped playin when I hit 142 and returned to 70 mph all ok. So if u have an import that only goes to 120 on the clock u can change it for a uk spec one that goes to 180.
