  1. ok lets see if we can help 1. Noisy inside Check your inners edge of your rear tyres - these can be worn unevenly and make it very noisy - you need to get your head under there to see it - you wont see it from the side - post a pic if you are not sure 2. Not as comfy Unfortunately comparing a saloon to a coupe - is it lowered though - changing back to normal springs might help 3. Build quality - materials crap Cant help here but its built to be light weight 4. Engine - Vtec rules - no issues at all what engine issues are you having? 5.Lots issues a] not working passenger window switch There is an isolator switch to the right of the igintion on the dash - 99% of the time this is the cause b] tailgate struts - New ones from kent gas springs are £34 - this is wear and tear im afraid c] alternator belt Again wear and tear - they dont last forever not even on hondas d] Clutch - lots issues !!! - What issues? e] Poor driver position - can't find comfy Have you tried lowering/raising the base using the dial? f] Heating on driver side not working properly -Needs bleeding properly g] cd changer location in boot - You can move it but most cars from factory have it here h] can't be ask to list it all - means many more - We can try and help
  2. The problem you have is if you go somewhere and mention that it failed elsewhere because of the exhaust - they probably wont want to pass it as it shows the failure on the history. So you might be taking your chances again.
  3. I suspect its because you were not at the test center when it was tested (ie the tester didnt know if the car was a dvla plant)
  4. Is it noisy at a steady 3000rpm with the bung in. Also with the bung in - is it possible to put a pipe in to check the emissions still? As for being a jobsworth - I dont think thats a fair comment - at the end of the day the tester doesn't know you and doesn't owe you any favours - why would he put his license and livelihood at risk for a stranger?
  5. the bonnet and tailgate - leave out side your driveway for a few days and see if the scrap man takes it bumper just take as is to local tip - no need to chop it up I left a dishwasher out and it was gone in 20 minutes, then put a cooker hob and someone else took that 15 minutes later
  6. Different regs on a minibus - as you have to check all the seats as well as the belts if you remove the seats and the belts from the rear on a car it will pass
  7. can you post a pic of the wheel with the cap off and one nut off as well
  8. OK - thanks for letting me know mr rules police
  9. You already know that it's not - what's your point?
  10. 257,000
  11. if you can get it listed up on here early - we can point people looking for one to it
  12. seen a few good sets for £80 without tyres
  13. se7en does a race day package for £800 I think - might seem pricey but think it includes everything so getting the car to the track, the car hire, tyres, fuel, entry, insurance etc- so once you take away all those costs its reasonable - think it includes support as well might be an idea to get your feet wet to start with
  14. watch out for rot on the early mk1s - they are getting to that age
  15. Underseal will go hard once its put on the car, its a lot thicker than stonechip Depends how you look at it, if you are keeping the car then its worth it, but if you are someone who buys cars for a few grand uses them until they get a big bill and then replaces them then no its not worth it. Same goes with a lot of big jobs on these cars now - if the engine goes - you could probably buy a whole car for less than the cost of fitting a replacement. Have a look at some of the threads on here - there are people who have spent £1000s and even tens of thousands on cars they paid under a £1000 for.
  16. On the 7, the skirts tuck around and over the underside of the sill - with it being enclosed, crap accumulates under there - so no way of treating them without taking them off and cleaning first. if you have the time to do it, then its a job Id try and tackle yourself, do one part at a time over the space of a few weekends, take the bits off, clean underneath them, then coat and treat it
  17. reason Im saying that price is, to seal the areas under there, you would need to remove the skirts, subframe, tank exhaust etc, then clean it all - I didnt include actually doing the tank and subframe in that price - but thats small in comparison. You could even go further and remove the brake pipes / fuel pipes as well so you can do under there as well In my opinion just going over the bits you can see is a bit of a waste of money as these areas dont go bad
  18. The main areas that go on the celica, are the sills, the subframe and the petrol tank, i think to tackle all these areas properly, you would be looking at a £1000 - the areas you can get too are the areas that dont go bad
