  1. For the last few weeks, I'm suffering from very poor reception on all FM stations after previously being nigh on perfect. Radios 1 & 2 are only showing the frequency, rather than the station name. The only thing I can think of that might have caused this, is that I had the Battery off the car a few weeks ago for a trickle charge. Is it possible that on reconnecting the Battery, I have blown a suppressor?, or could there be another cause?. Because the H/U hasn't been touched, I haven't removed it to check the aerial connection.
  2. To avoid putting extra strain on the locking nut (the weakest link), loosen it off first, and tighten it up last
  3. Looks like your wheel nuts are standard, in which case you'll need a 21mm socket if the wheel wrench is missing. As regards the locking nut, the two pieces of black plastic are for removing the chrome sleeve, which has gone walkies. I'd buy a set of McGard locking nuts (ams may be able to supply), as the ones you have fitted can easily break, and it's sods law it will be when you have a puncture in the pouring rain.
  4. I checked out the EuroCarParts site before ordering LongLife. Strangely, the site wrongly recommends blue coolant for a Gen 7. If it's good stuff, £12.73 is a bloody good price.
  5. Getting back onto the subject of powder coating. As I'm told a powder coated finish chips easily, and with the wheel being in VERY close proximity to the caliper, wouldn't you have to be mega careful about damaging the the finish on the caliper when removing/refitting a front wheel?. At least if you clip a caliper that you've hand painted, it's a two minute job to use the remaining/matching paint to touch-up the damaged area.
  6. Red or Pink?. This is a question that I've never seen a satisfactory answer to on CCUK. I chose "Red" for two reasons. It was fitted at the factory, and I've heard the "Pink" can attack the Water Pump Gasket. Here's the link..http://www.ebay.co.u...=p2047675.l2557 Very polite guy, he even sent me a partial refund, as a small amount had seeped out into the bubble wrap during transit.
  7. There's a Celica breaker in Cornwall who may be able to help. http://www.tcbparts.co.uk/
  8. Are you planning on setting up your own business, Rob?. http://www.ironmaidens.co.uk/
  9. So..who is going to be the first to ask if "dipstick" has the R/R proof of 210bhp?.
  10. Shush, they hate to be reminded it's more like 145!
  11. You should get on well with Bill T, Rob. But then again, that may be going too far
  12. I quite agree, Steven. It does seem rather extraordinary to see such eloquence.
  13. Very nice..Cynthia ..you Yorkies are always surprising me. I'll try and remember your new name
  14. If I was going to a specialist such as the link below, I'd be expecting to pay IIRO £70, so given London prices.. http://www.alignment...co.uk/index.asp
  15. One step at a time, freddie. Just explain the whole circumstances to eBay first Are you aware that diamond cut finishes and our damp climate is not a good combination?.
  16. I would hardly call upgrading from the semi synth that Toyota recommend to a fully synthetic oil.."skimping". On a boosted Gen 7, I'd be spending £50 on a full ester oil too, but on a standard car, regular changes and dip stick checks are more important than expensive oil. As always..each to their own, but I've noticed a few owners on here who live from one pay day to the next, and don't like to see them spending more money than really necessary.
  17. £50 inc. delivery isn't cheap to most people, Joe Here's a cheaper alternative for one third of the price, and a free oil filter too.. http://www.eurocarpa...76031&0&cc5_248
  18. I think Joe's recommendation is probably the best oil of those above, but you might be surprised at how expensive it is.
  19. Talking to Kev (my mechanic) this morning, and he asked if I'd heard of this new oil from Millers which supposedly increases torque and BHP. Being old, I'm rather sceptical about such claims, but after reading the link below, I was curious if any Celica owners had tried it. http://www.fastcar.c...nanodrive-test/
  20. I only looked at the top six pics., and got the impression from the exhaust and red TOYOTA badge that it was a 190. Then I viewed the bottom four. and saw the 140 engine. Hence my edit
  21. Yep, they were sweet. Probably discontinued due to warranty claims on the lacquered finish though
  22. The pre face lift "Dynamic" rims were the only non Fondmetal type used on the Gen 7. As such you may well be right in saying they take a 60 degree tapered nut. Steve to the rescue again
  23. Oh dear, Darryl. Are you guilty of not reading the full thread?. This is the type Tony will need..http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-VVTI-CELICA-7gen-wheel-nut-bolt-/181039315560?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a26c8ba68
