Well I've downloaded AutoCAD LT 30 day trial. Basically I bought AutoCAD files which have the patterns for watercutting TA22/23 and RA28 dashboards from sheet steel etc. All the plans are in one big file so I was looking at creating each one on it's own. IE StephenG wanted a change made to his TA22 set, so I cut that pattern from the main file, pasted it to a new file and then removed the cuts he didn't want any more. I do need to change the pattern for the RA28 to have a single DIN slot for the radio as well as the original AC + rear screen heater buttons. That's a little more fiddly so might take me a little longer. Hopefully cutting from the original .DXF file and then saving my edited versions in AutoCAD LT will be ok and not screw up the patterns.

thanks for the offer but what I'm needing to do is alter a CAD drawing to change a couple of sections to get some watercutting done using the edited file. Might have to see if the cutting firm can make a couple of easy adjustments to the file prior to cutting.

I have a CAD (.dxf) file I need to make a couple of changes to - can anyone recommned a free editor? I was using ABViewer (free version) to tinker around but not sure it will do the job properly. Any advice? cheers!

Well mines in for it's MOT today - 5th one with the HKS Silent Hi-Per on it so not had any issues in the past. According to this chart (http://www.hkseurope...apps/toyota.htm), the stock exhaust if 85db, the HKS one is 98db. It is JASMA approved and meets the strict noise limits there......

so no definitive section of rules on retro fitted HIDS then ? My PIAA sidelights have a slight blue tint when they shine through the projector lens, but take them out the housing and the MOT tester I use agrees that they are a pure white light... will be interesting to see how strict he has to be come the next MOT on the Gen6. I still need to look at getting new webbing on one of the RA28 seatbelts as there is a 1.5cm cut in one of them.

Cheers Bryan - saves me spending money before Xmas, but thought it might be wise to have some decent tread on the '202 if I need to use it when we start to get snow! hmm - new tyres always seems to look deep tread to me. Then again the CRV is parked next to it and has loads off tread. Might brave the cold and measure the nearly new Falkens on the RA28

Anyone know the depth of tread on a brand new tyre? My current tyres are down to 4mm on the front and 6mm on the back and it might be time to fit some new boots as the weather changes. I've currently got Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's fitted (been on for 3yrs now) and been really happy with them. Seems that they're pushing the Eagle F1 Asymmetrics these days, but I can get GSD3's from a couple of places still. Just got to decide if I replace all 4 or just the front 2 for the 'winter' driving I will need to do when I can't rob the CRV off Andrea. Think I only went out in my Celica about 3 times last winter!

Well just ordered the non powered Gen7 sub-antenna mast to fit an S2000 stubby. Just got to figure out the easiest way to get to the stock aerial withouth having to take half the plastics out of the back end of the car!

Andy, If you just want to go for a block colour then fine enough it's an 'easy' job to shot blast and powder coat but if you want polished lips or the very fine ridge detail that might be on a wheel then you do need to have these re-cut into the wheel again after they's had the base powdercoat done. An example would be IS200 wheels - as standard the faces of them are diamond cut (looks like the fine ridge details on a vinyl record). It all depends on what you want the wheels to look like as a re-finished product. WRC do a cracking job so whatever you actually need doing so give them a call and get a price. Seems to be a spate of mindless vandalism these days - people who've had a drink and think it's acceptable to trash other peoples property. The sparky I had doing some work on the house yesterday had his car set on fire on saturday last weekend. The car is a write-off. The Police caught the guy who did it as he was vandalising another car and left him in the cells to sober up for questioning. He thought it was funny and just said ihe'd done it due to being drunk. The police pretty much told the sparky that when it goes to court he'll just get a slap on the wrist and the car owners affected will be expected to have to claim on their insurance to cover their loss. Even if the vandal did get told he had to pay for ALL the damage they'd probably claim they can't pay more than 50p a week out of their tax payer funded income.

I've just decided that I'm going to go down the S2000 aerial route. You need to get a Gen 7 sub antenna base (non powered) and swap this for the Gen 6 lump and screw on the S2000 - looks pretty good when done. Parts will be about £40 but should make that back selling on my intact and working old aerial.

I had EBC brakes on my old Rover 'TomCat' same thing with them warping very quickly (this was over 11yrs ago though) as such I don't rate the EBC disk. Demon Tweeks were also hard work to get them to swap the discs under warranty (bastards never gave me my original disks back when they fitted the EBC ones for me either!)

if you can see any webbing/internal banding where the chunk of rubber is misssing then it's a definite fail. Depends on how big/deep the hole other than that. As for swapping a tyre over yourself - forget it, the sidewall is a lot tougher than a bicycle tyre so you won't be able to lever it off with kitchen spoons. Most places will only charge a tenner or so to swap a tyre for you.

Only got a pass out for the saturday - we go on holiday on tuesday night and I've still got loads to do at home over the weekend. With Andrea being 6 months pregnant now it means she can't do as much especially with the 'tasmanian devil' we have for a nearly 3yr old daughter already!

There's usually some benfit from these sort of things - the place I use to do my servicing usually chuck a can of Forte injection cleaner in as part of the service and you can always tell the difference shortly after.

okies - will scrape as much off as possible with a blade and try the bug and tar remover I've got in the garage..

Finally getting the weather and TIME! to fit my replacement front splitters. As the ones I had on previously were FG copies and had no flex to them, the body shop used some sticky stuff to fit them flush and this needs to come off to fit the OEM ones properly. That stuff like bathroom sealant but a hell of a lot more durable and stickier until it dries. what's the best stuff to remove it completely from the plastic bumper and the front wing?
