I used Hycote silver VHT paint. £5 for the can, its not shiny but it is silver (or grey if you dont like it) The hardest part was re fitting the shields without scratching the paint off as it doesnt cure properly till its been heated up. I cleaned my old ones up with the grinder before spraying.

As Im sure you already know, you'll get a great gen6 for that sort of money. Cant think of a better car to drive in terms of power, reliability, looks and low cost if you leave it standard.

I love it when you deicede to spend money on a car, and you get a better deal than you'd expect.

I did this with a celica I still sorn it every year. You should get something for the shell due to the current scrap value. Maybe you could keep it as a rolling shell when you scrap it, hubs aren't that valuable and the rear end is usualy siezed solid so to much effort to remove. This pile of crap made me the grand total of £200, wasnt worth breaking really as it cost me £2000! Sure you'll make more with yours though.

Have a look at Cheap toyota parts KYB made the standard shocks for Toyota. so these might be good enough for you.

You can take the rocker cover off without draining the oil out the engine. The only thing with the 3S-GE is getting to the rocker cover is quite a bit of work. Access to all the nuts and bolts is quite tight.

Its realy hard to see that thing could ever get back to looking the way it does now. No windscreen, not much of a front end. Its a frightening picture . Anyway here it is January 2010. I could have just re fitted the standard spoiler and left it well alone. But I left the TRD spoiler on and so it didnt look stupid I got the rest of the TRD bits. Here is is now

Adex, I thought I didnt need one of these on my car. I had already sold one a few years ago, but one day I was looking down on the faff from a distance and I realised that it needed a roof spoiler, the roofline just didnt quite look satisfying. Anyway when I got home I searched ebay and I got one for £30+ postage. Sometimes things just go to plan. Isnt that right daz?

Well this is still ongoing. I got the car back today and checked the coolent. It was almost empty. They said this must be down to an air lock in the cooling system. Im not 100% sure on this, but atleast Ive got the right water pump fitted now. Anyway its going back in again, but atleast this time im borrowing a car off them. They'll hopefully do a better job of touching up the spoiler aswell. By the time I get the car back my 2 week holiday will be over. Perfect!

Has anyone mensioned superstrut yet? Im pretty sure Ive read the whole thing, that's what annoys me. Everything else is fantastic.

£25 is very cheap. Im not sure all of these places do it properly. Im currently scraping underseal off an MG Midget and I have found dirt and soil in the wheel arches under the underseal. Ive also found rust behind underseal in other areas. doesn't say much for the thoroughness of the undersealer person

Thats always what Im worrying about. Having a good trolley jack helps too so you gan get it up high enough. I usualy put the stands under the car's subframes. A little chunk of wood is quite good between the axle stands and the car just to protect it.

Well the poor guy out front at the dealer has been great its just the "Fag in mouth" work ethic that apears to be causing the problems. My main complaint is that I have to wait till Tuesday before the real paint man can work on it. From my point of view I had a car that went in for a timing belt change and came back with pink paint, in an atempt to fix this 1 other area of paint has been damaged and other parts have been scuffed, not to mension the amount of cutting compound/polish that still remains in powder form in all the gaps. I should have my car back, now, as it was before the belt was done. Still maybe the'll have a look at the bannana arm as compensation Brian, thanks for the offer but really Im not sure how much good it would do. I have been told that nothing can be done till Tuesday. oh, and Gray Racer maybe this man is the reason for the low standards:

It is, but I'll say this in small words. the last time we had heavy rain several white spots apeared on my paint work that wouldnt come of. I have delicate paint. I even worry about breathing near the car. Not to mention all the little bits Ive touched in with a brush Although tomorow morning I'll be back round there in the 340 and get somethning done. I paid for it before I saw the car. They sort of admited they used degreaser on the paintwork after it got sprayed with oil in the workshop apparently. I just have this vision of the valeter doing the car with one hand on a rotary polisher and the other with a fag in it, like he didnt give a s*it. The car's still there now. In a lot of ways Im thinking I dont want anybody to get in to trouble for this or get sacked but the paint work was nowhere near that bad before it went in for the belt change.

All I paid for was the timing belt and asociated parts. They made a mess of the paintwork for free

It's lovely and sunny outside and I got my celica back today from getting a belt change. I think that went well, my only doubt is about the cost of the water pump (I hope its not got a metal wheel inside). Anyway the garage brought the car round the front of there forecourt for me and instantly I noticed the paintwork was all faded down the drivers side. I thought it would wash off so I took it home. It didnt, so I took it back before I even thought about getting pics, so all I can say is the paint was all pink and streaky. The Garage agreed to drive me home while they sorted it out. Im not long back from having a look at it and yes it is a transformation, but...... In the process they've: Left a black mark on the A post Roughed up the roof spoiler rubber Burnt throught the paint on part of the spoiler Made the rear screen surround white left loads of white chalk poweder stuff in all the pannel gaps My mate says I should get a free respray but I just dont want to get into a shouting match with them, cause I might end up kicking F*** out out the nearest Yaris.

I've had a lot of cars that were cheaper than those! I hate to say it but I really dont see the appeal. They're small and not really the shape I'd go for, someone obviously liked them though!

Well Im one of the loosers that's used this in my track car. I had a leak from my radiator I think, so I put some of this in nearly 2 years ago and the leak stopped. Ive never changed the oil or coolent in the car and its still going. Every time I drive it, it gets thrashed to the redline in as many gears as I can and its still running. The heater still blows hot air and its only just started occasionally leaking coolent again. I dont know what its done to the engine, but if it breaks it doesnt matter its a French pushrod engine designed in the 60 and im looking forward to replacing it with something with more cylinders or a turbo. Not sure Id put it in a celica though, id doesnt really solve the problem

Ive always liked the curren, very rare car too. Its still a Celica to me, would look very interesting on a club stand.
