Akuma77
ive been looking at doing its first oil change in my ownership and i was wondering if the below is any good : http://www.halfords....MOB SUP FE 5W30 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f062a6ed9 which oil filter should i go with also ? , the 2nd one has a built in nut to undo the oil filter rather than struggling with a oil wrench any body tried one of this type Edited May 20, 2013 by celica1977
J03
No need to change the sump plug mate, you can simply get a new washer from Toyota for about a quid. I'd go with the black filter as well, if you're doing regular oil changes then the filter should come off easy enough. Personally I don't think the built in nut is worth paying double for. I won't comment too much on oil though, as it's a can of worms I use Gulf competition 5w 40 though. See.... http://www.opieoils.co.uk/
Akuma77
yeah thats what i thought , tbh you shouldnt tighten up the filter too much anyway , i guess you never know how someone else has done tho but one great thing about the 7 is its just under the car which is great , my last car it was at the front halfway up theengine and the car before that you had to take off the wheel to change that one lol.. i bought a 1ltr bottle of the same stuff ages when i bought the car and not needed to top up so far but im not gonna make the same mistake where i used a cheaper oil just doesnt pay in the long run so basically any copper washer will do the trick from motorfactors etc , see normally i buy a new nut and washer everytime and i thought the black filter as well. J03
Yeah our kid's old Golf GTI had its filter at the front of the engine, so as soon as you popped it off, manky old oil would piss everywhere! Nice design VW Might be worth doing the gearbox oil whilst she's in the air as well mate, from memory you'll need a 24mm socket for that though. MYK
My car drank up pretty much the full 5 litres with the filter change. Not complaining as meant i didnt have the extra kicking about but deffinetly worth it as the engine feels so much smoother! I didnt do mine myself though, got the garage to do it

MYK
I mean i was surprised by how much actually went in after a change. I was expecting about 4 litres but just went straight in (dont mean its drinking the oil in terms of using any )
