Supersonic sensors as extra

Don't know what section to ask a question about alarms under, so thought this would be the best place for it.

I've got a standard alarm system on my gen 6 GT already but it's only got the door and boot triggers. It don't have any supersonic sensors in the car. Is it possible to buy some supersonic sensors and wire them into the existing alarm system and just mount them on the windscreen pillars inside?

Oh right. Whats the difference between the 2 mate? From what i think i know, supersonic are the one's that detect movement inside the car. Like at the windows. What do ultrasonic sensors do and where is this located on the UK GT? Sweet.

You know something, i haven't noticed or thought to look there as i always thought sensors were placed up high on the windscreen pillars. When i get home Wednesday ill check. Lol

Thats where i mean on the windscreen pillars but not high up , nearer the dash

In the GT there is a single ultrasonic sensor on the top of the dash near the screen on the driver's side.

An ultrasonic sensor will detect windows opening/breaking and movement inside the car. I'm not aware that there is such a thing as a supersonic sensor.

Oh right. Mines the facelift model then. Mine's 1997.

Right i've taken pictures of the dash to show you guys. I can't see a sensor anywhere on the dash. The pictures probably won't load up so i'll have to paste the links to photobucket. LOL.

In one of the pictures im pointing at a circle bit on the drivers side so don't know if thats it. And in another picture im pointing at the LED that flashes to let people know there's an alarm in the car. But thats all i can see. I cant see any sensors guys.

Facelift bud, PM me your email and I will send you a alarm part location diagram. The radar sensor is located under the console near the handbrake.

Out of intrest are you aware you can program new or extra remotes to this alarm system.

So is it the block that has a red light that flashes when the alarm is armed Cause i can see that which is near the handbrake. But i thought that was just a light to say the alarm is armed. So is that the sensor? I tried sending you a pm from my phone but for some reason the link don't work from my phone cause its crap. Lol. So my email address is scorps1212@sky.com. Cheers dude. And no, i wasn't aware i could programme more remotes into it. So i can buy just a remove with funky buttons on and get it programmed to my alarm system?

No that is just a status LED the radar sensor is situated below the console.

You can only code a Toyota remote like the ones supplied with the car, to do this you need to remove the stereo and access the alarm ECU.

Planc, can ya email me that diagram you mentioned? Just So i know where this sensor is. So the gen 6 facelift GT definitely comes with an internal sensor for the alarm which covers windows being smashed. I suppose there's one way i can find out. Ill leave the widow half down, arm the alarm, wait a minute and stick my arm into the car. And Hope it goes off.
