Alan Clogwyn Posted 3 October 2011 Report Posted 3 October 2011 Just thought I'd bring your attention to a product I've just tried http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310339493750?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649. It's a liquid Electrical tape, very useful for repairs to cracked wiring etc, can't believe I've never found it before! I actually came across it as a method for repairing camera shutter curtains (After I put 2 holes in my very expensive and just serviced Pentax LX!) and I can confirm it works a treat for that too!
InsolentMinx Posted 3 October 2011 Report Posted 3 October 2011 that's pretty cool. guess it could be used in place of heatshrink too?
Angus Posted 3 October 2011 Report Posted 3 October 2011 Wow - what an excellent thing. Looks like a front-line product to sit with cable ties and gaffa tape on the shelf ... Good spot!
silver gt Posted 3 October 2011 Report Posted 3 October 2011 Frost do the same product for a bit less. http://www.frost.co.uk/automotive-electrical-tools/electrical-wiring/plasti-dip-brush-on-liquid-electrical-tape.html
bazz54 Posted 3 October 2011 Report Posted 3 October 2011 Is this anything than more spray on varnish? Varnish has been used as an insulator/corrosion protector for decades, especially stuff like military radios for use in tropical locations.
silver gt Posted 3 October 2011 Report Posted 3 October 2011 It's not spray on lacquer, it's brush on rubber.

Should be OK for the odd flood. No idea how it works on >1/1000 second camera shutters. Don't be suprised by anything, there is a wealth of knowledge on this site and not just polishing!!
