LiamGTR
Ok so as simple as I can put it, how can I transfer my reg's over from my 2 cars, i've completely forgot since I bought the reg 2 years ago! The Escort has the private reg - L19 MTP (Liam Thomas Pearson - Liam T P) the Celica wants the private reg - but isn't insured or taxed (if that makes a difference) My current insurance company only want £25 in "admin fee's" for changing the Escort back to it's original reg. What is my next step? I've tried searching the DVLA site but to no avail Last time I change just my Escort I remember taking some documents t othe DVLA office in Newcastle, but because this is 2 cars it's slightly more confusing for me. Any help appreciated, Liam. Edited February 28, 2011 by LiamGTR
Aftershock
Wouldnt it be done seperately, you swap the private reg off the escort by filling in the forms and taking them to dvla then with another set of forms you put the private reg onto the celica? Sorry cant be more help, mine had a private reg when i bought it but the garage did all the paper work for me as the reg wasnt sold with the car. Not sure if both could be done at once or if insurance and tax makes a difference
Kev 16v
I haven't done this for seven years, and then the Toyota Dealership did it for me. IIRC it cost £80. I do think the Gen 7 will have to have RFL on it though.

sheepy182
I just did mine - V110 (I think) from DVLA - fill this in, you need tax disc details from both cars, the V5 and MOT from both cars and £80 - go down to the nearest DVLA office or send it in - takes 7 days Its £80 to take from car A and put on car B - not £80 for each change Edited February 28, 2011 by sheepy182

LiamGTR
I've got to take the car to the garage anyway so think i'm gona have to tax it (can't find anyone with a trailer) thanks for the info all Tax it, wait for the disc, then straight to the DVLA. Do you know if they will give my Escort it's ORIGINAL reg? Just i've kept the plates so nice and simple to just swap them back over
samuaw
MY insurance didn't charge for the reg change. But it did cost monies for the admin fee though. Sometimes the old car's reg might revert back to the orignal ones. IF they are avaliable. There is a chance that someone might have bought that plate and so you'd have to revert to a random plate at the same year. Old Red Celica
It will be more likely that your Escort will go back to it's original reg no. One option you could do is go to the DVLA Office and take the Private plate off the Escort and pay £105 (£80 Tranfer fee + £25 Retention fee) just before you change over. Then TAX the Celica at the DVLA office when you put it on the road, then once you have the Celica insured and tax swap the number over. Hopefully your insurance co for the Celica won't charge you an admin fee. My Private plate is on my Camry, I can't get it off until I insure, MOT and TAX it. Yea that's the problem i'm facing, the Celica has no TAX or Insurance, as of yesterday. I've got a fair idea of how to go about it now all it means is I can'tswap my plate over ready for me to drive the car it'll have to stay on it's current plate for a while, no biggie. thanks guys Admin feel free to close this topic if you want.
