  2. Wheels should always be white, calipers should always be red. Zebra stripes ... there's an idea. The Mrs's MG has the registration ZBR and I was wondering how I could get something zebra onto it! She's been badgering me to paint her calipers, so I might just surprise her with that ... Angus
  3. As I say, the MG ZT has wee computer thing on it that tells you the range you have left and your average mpg for the journey. So I zeroed it and drove like an old lady for a while, and got it up to 60mpg. And the range thing on a full tank reads something around 600 miles ... Cost us 2 grand with 81K miles on it. And it leaves my Honda standing (whisper it ). This is what ours looks like: Angus
  4. I wondered that from the pics ... is it a common thing on Merdes? As for other cars, the MG ZT diesel that Indy got a couple of weeks ago ... it's actually great fun to drive. It's got a Synergy 2 chip in, and it goes like absolute buggery. It's very comfy too. I found myself thinking I'd actually quite fancy it myself. Let's see how it goes up the Alps first, eh? Angus
  5. When I was 20 I couldn't see past my Ford Capri, and imagined I'd own it forever ... same with my girlfriend of the time, and my first bass guitar I'd just got for Christmas. Imagine how dull my life would have been if I still had that Capri and that girlfriend (I still have the bass). Angus
  6. The American Courts system has decided that owners of Toyotas which were subject to the recent highly publicised recalls can sue Mr T because their cars are worth less than they would have been if they hadn't needed something fixing. This applies even to owners who haven't tried to sell their car on - the argument being that they overpaid for the car in the first place, because it was worth less than a similar car without the defect. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13420798 Americans, eh? Who'd have 'em. Angus
  7. Fuck me, mate! Hard lesson to learn ... Perhaps this should go in General Discussion so that more folk will take note. Hope you're otherwise OK. Angus
  8. Not my thing either - but I always think these things look naff. Still - your car, your taste. Angus
  9. Looks like a froggy Gen 6 Celica to me. Not really that similar, is it? Though probably enough to fool impressionable young ladies. Angus
  10. In days of yore, club stickers were all "inside" cling-film vinyl. Made it much easier to swap them to your next car! I still have mine 8 years later on my current car. Angus
  11. Yeah - good on Sonic for keeping it going! "Toyota named the car "Celica," which derived from medieval Spaniards that used Latin and it's literal translation is a plural form of "celestial" as in "celestial things". The original dragon logo depicts a celestial blue dragon; symbol of the East and representative of the Emperor and celestial power." Here you go - get a wallpaper from this thread over at 162.net: http://st162.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3674 Angus
  12. Aye, it has - I think dublet posted his car outside Twente Enschede's stadium in Holland The Netherlands, and I think I put these ones up too ... Still, might as well do it again, because it's obviously a decent time since then! Angus
  13. Love the piss-take taglines on the pics on the cover of that mag. But I mean, really, would you want your beloved car in there for 15 year old boys to have a wank over? Angus
  14. Have you got different colour wheels on the front and back of your car? Angus
  15. We just sold the goose-shit green X-reg Rover 75 diesel, with 153K on the clock, for £1450. Much more than I expected to get for it, though it was a bonny clean car. The guy came down from Tain, north of Inverness, to get it - after just a quick phone call earlier in the day. No messing, cash in hand, off he went. It was mpg he was looking for. Replaced it with a chipped black MG ZT diesel which is immaculate on 80K, really goes like shit off a shovel (I had trouble keeping up in the H!) and cost us just over £2K. Computer shows an average 48mpg so far, and range of just under 600 miles on a full tank. Perfect. I remember the time we took the 185 to Europe, we used a full tank between here and Gateshead. First time I've ever put £50 in a car in one go - I got a sinking feeling knowing we had the whole of Europe in front of us! Angus
  16. Try this site for starters ... http://bgbonline.celicatech.com/#6th You may have to register to access the BGBs, but it's free. Angus
  17. Aye, the electrical diagram says 5 wires to each switch ... look down the index ion the left of this page to find the appropriate diagram, with wire colours: http://bgbonline.celicatech.com/90ewd/index.html You're right - two wires to the motor, one for up and one for down (green/red by the look of it), but you have no earth at that point, so no circuit. Can't quite get my head round the switch at this time of the morning, but you evidently need to get a live feed to the up/down wires, and have an earth to complete the circuit. <thinks a bit> Here's my guess. You need a three way switch - with a neutral middle position, and an up/down option. Have the live wire crossing the outer terminals of your switch and going to the motor, with an earth in the middle position. So that when you switch one way or the other it completes the circuit in that direction. Is that right? Note that I'm not an electrician, so that could be a bag of shite! Angus
  18. Here's an orange one with black bonnet and stuff ... looks quite excellent I reckon. http://www.flickr.com/photos/stef_dit_patoc/3575878915/ Angus
  19. 160 to work and back (16 miles each way), plus around 200 or so going out to sites and incidents. So 350+, but not voted cos not Celica. Angus
  20. Taken from Dawn's profile? What, you mean people who've looked at her profile? I often join forums just to get access to what's in them (maybe even a particular thread that's come up in Google or whatever) without ever posting anything. Angus
  21. As far as I can see, there's no regulation that prevents you having extra text around the edge of the plate, as long as the required margins around the reg. no. itself, and the manufacturer's details, are in place. A quick guide: http://www.theplatemarket.com/display_of_registration_numbers.php The relevant legislation: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2001/561/contents/made Personally, I think CCUK should be flogging plastic number plate surrounds, like our friends in Poland do ... Angus
  22. Apparently some plastics can react like that, depending on the type of paint you use or something. My spoiler had similar stuff on a part of it - solid little circular slightly raised hard spots - before I got it resprayed, and although it was all sanded down, primered and so on, it looks like it's coming back on the same section. Angus
  23. Look vaguely like the wheels I had on my car for a while - which I think were TSW. Angus
  24. "bonerfied"? Is that another physical symptom? Angus
  25. I must have it pretty bad actually ... not had one for 2 or 3 years now, and I still slobber all over Gen 5s when I see them. So obviously the Honda Cure doesn't work. Angus
