  1. The naffness of a full cover has crossed my mind Rich, I'd love to see a picture of what the original centre covers actually looked like but I've not found any pictures of this model of Enkei on t'interweb. I suppose at least that confirms how bloody rare they are. I think the Hilux ones would be the only cap big enough to fit the hole, gen 7 ones are too weeny.
  2. These are the evil items in question: The driveshaft pokes out about 15mm: Close up of the lip that I think the original cover clipped to: These would be spot on if it wasn't for the driveshaft: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261162182264
  3. Lol Aye where there's a will and all that. The caps will need to be cylindrical, I'll get a measurement and some piccies at lunch time. They will need to be a bit like the HiLux Surf centre caps if you know what they look like.
  4. Lol The centre hole ID is 65 mm, I found some lovely carbon centre caps off a Bimmer that would fit but my joy was short lived as they need to be pretty deep due to the end of the drive shaft poking through. Doh! Hmmmm http://www.mouldlife.net/ekmps/shops/mouldlife/resources/Other/araldite-2028-1-eur-e-1-.pdf
  5. Cheers all. Unfortunately if it's thicker than 1mm Ade the disk will sit proud of the wheel , if I wanted to use a thicker disk then I'd need to get a lip machined into it and the price would go up a fair bit I reckon. I've looked at ultra low profile screws but the heads still going to stick out by 2mm. The other alternative is 2 PU, a fairly hard setting 2 part polyurethane adhesive but I don't know how well it will adhere to the aluminium. I suppose if I went for a steel disk then I could tack weld the clips onto the back but I don't want to add too much extra weight to the wheel and if a 1mm steel disk came off the car at speed it would be likely to take someones head off. Aaaaaargh! I need something to go in there as I don't want the ends of the drive shafts exposed to the elements as they are at the moment. Clingfilm?
  6. Unfortunately I think they're steel clips, and you can't weld steel to ali.
  7. Cheers Ade, I may well take you up on that one. At the moment I've ordered some VW clips and am just about to order eight 1mm x 145mm Ali Disks to be Laser cut (extras for prototypes ). Hopefully the VW clips will be the right size and I can figure out a way to attach them to the back of the disk without it looking rubbish (they rivet on). The clips:
  8. If it'll hold em on that'd be a good idea. I have found some VW Beetle hubcap retaining clips that might work but I'll need to coat the metal with some rubber or similar.
  9. Ok since my wheels have no centre covers and I cant find anything that will fit I've decided to make my own, they're a stupid size (145mm disk). So I need to find some clips similar to those on centre caps, anyone know what these are called? If that fails I'm open to ideas. I have considered using polyurethane adhesive but it would probably pull the paint off the whell when they're removed. Lol
  10. If it fits the ST205 it will fit the ST202. The UFI oil filters listed by Opie for the 205 & 202 have the same part numbers. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/product-finder.aspx?CategoryID=1669&ProductTypeID=845&SEName=ufi-oil-filters#results http://www.opieoils.co.uk/product-finder.aspx?CategoryID=1669&ProductTypeID=845&SEName=ufi-oil-filters#results
  11. I had white smoke from my MR2 when the piston rings went, only smoked off the throttle though.
  12. Sounds more rumbly than rattly. Damn I wish I was closer to you I'd come over and have a listed.
  13. and when does it appear? Constantly? On acceleration? When lifting off/engine braking?
  14. What colour is the smoke? I wouldn't associate smoke with big end failure but the rattle under load does kind of point that way. In my experience of big end failure the rattle occurs at a certain point in the rev range and it has a quite distinctive 'note' to it. Can you decribe the rattle, is it tinny, thuddy? But it could be something that the jet washer has knocked loose too and you may have jetted a load of water up the exhaust pipe which is evapourating off. They probably could check but there will be a lot of angry folks in front of you with broken down cars who had put more fuel in their tanks than you did. Thinking about it if it had been diesel then your car would be running pretty rough throughout the rev range. Big end is the bearing that sits between the con rod and the crank shaft.
  15. The noise rating is about right as the bigger side walls of the 16 will absorb more vibration and transmit less to the car. The 17s are 10mm wider than the 16s so might explain a slight difference in wet grip but I doubt it would make that much of a difference. Personally I don't trust the new style of rating much. If you go onto www.mytyres.co.uk they link to tyretest.com which I pay far more attention to than the EU ratings. http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Ordern&cart_id=88020747.110.13518&typ=R-193813&ranzahl=4&Breite=205&Herst=Hankook&Quer=50&Felge=16&Speed=V&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=15&Transport=P&dsco=110&sowigan=So http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Ordern&cart_id=51517160.110.9568&typ=R-193822&ranzahl=4&Breite=215&Herst=Hankook&Quer=45&Felge=17&Speed=V&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=15&Transport=P&dsco=110&sowigan=So
  16. The only ones that come close are VW Bora centres and I'm not sure if the clips are in the right place. Enkei CC-145s are a close match as well but have a big hole in the centre. Matt have a look on www.centercapsdirect.com they seem to have a good selection.
  17. A bit of a long shot but does anyone know of any companies that can make up centre caps for alloy wheels? I've searched everywhere for a set for my Enkeis and drawn blanks. They're 144-145mm diameter so more a cover plate than a centre cap.
  18. I haven't been pulled over yet for a noisy exhaust but I will be once the MR2 goes back on the road. Lol
  19. I had a Varley RedTop in my Mk1 MR2, it was a good battery until the bodyshop I left the car with killed it. It was a Redtop 15. Started the car fine and dandy but probably wouldn't have enough oomph for your purposes, it did tend to get discharged by the alarm etc after a couple of days. I'd look at a much higher spec one, when I replace mine it will be a much higher spec. As to mounting you can get mounting frames for them. I've heard good things about Odessey batteries as well.
  20. Strictly speaking yes, you could have come out of Kwik Fit after having a replacement fitted and get pulled over and done if it was a tad louder than the one from Toyota. I'm not sure how they're going to deal with the GT86 as Toyota will fit the Milltek exhaust as an option as well as the TRD one. Both are louder than stock.
