  1. For the best results go to a professional car paint supplier not your local Halfrods If you have a professional car paint supplies near you they will make rattle cans up to your paint code, if so you can produce a professional finish. I have a supplier local to me, in Bexleyheath that I’ve been using for years. http://www.bsbgroup.co.uk/contact.php if your going to Silverstone I could always pick them up for you and take them up to the show, if it’s any help.
  2. Same here, I can’t remember when I’ve ever needed to put a spare wheel on. I bet I’ll need it if I didn’t have it though
  3. Yeah stripping weight makes a big difference. The first thing I done on the Red edition was to throw away that stupid subwoofer in the back. Didn’t do a thing and weighed a ton
  4. Yep, as slybunda said anyone will take a look and charge you money.......but look over for what ? Remember your previous experience with the cost of a Diagnostic, radiator and wheels off eBay ? Be more specific mate as to why you want your engine looked over before you do anything. Toyota Celica specialist ?................they’re all on here
  5. £££££££££...........oh and a new Rotrex charger
  6. Yep. I tried it once on a different car that I had with a similar long antenna but the reception was pretty bad afterwards. I put it down to me buying a cheap stinger at the time.
  7. How’s the reception with it compared to the other one ?
  8. Thanks Bryan, I did and he came up with the goods yet again........brilliant
  9. Well today I was really pleased. I had been looking for some new silhouette wheel center caps for my Red edition but they were impossible to find. I spoke to Mook and he said he could do a stylised sticker version of the originals. And after prep, prime, paint and lacquer. Here’s some before and after pictures. Thanks Mook, your a genius.
  10. Why do I think you will be having mirror tiles under your car at the next show
  11. Yeah Cal, I was amazed with the condition of them when I got it. I won’t be changing them. Just a shame I can’t find a decent set of original center caps.
  12. Today I finished the hubs and wheels. When I got the car in October although the discs were in good condition, the callipers were rusty silver So I cleaned, primed and painted the callipers, found some Toyota Logos to put on them and fitted new pads all round. The only thing. I can’t find for love nor money are a new set of the silhouette center caps, so I’ll have to decide whether or not to keep the originals that are in a sad state or replace them with a different type
  13. Hi mate. I’ve just done a google search for “car restoration “ in Manchester and there are a couple of companies that, looking at what they do, might possibly be up for doing it. The reason I thought of it was some years ago I used a local Custom car builders to do some work for me that no garage or engineering firm would take on. Just do a google search for Manchester and you will find them, if you can’t find them, I’ll send you the links.
  14. It was nothing special, more Old Skool, but I’ve used it in the past and have always been happy with it. It’s “Rustins” Satin Black paint for metal and “Rustins” Red Oxide primer. I like the look of Satin black rather that gloss when I’m painting underneath but they do Gloss is you prefer.
  15. The weather has been dry and I have finally finished painting the underneath today. I also wire brushed, sanded, primed and painted any other metal that had surface rust and cleaned and painted under the wheel arches as well, just to tidy it up. Luckily there were no horror stories lurking underneath that I hadn’t been aware of, other than I will be needing a new exhaust in the not to distant future and finding a split shock absorber gator. The total cost of paint, primer and brushes, to do the job came to £38 Just a good job I didn’t have to include an hourly rate labour charge as well
  16. I can’t remember if it was as bad as that with my T sport mate, but it was noticeable, And very noticeable with a unmentionable (in this section) V6 I had..........I referred to it as my air brake I haven’t tried it with the 140 yet.......I’ll let you know in July
  17. Well I was outside again today still painting the underneath of the car, when I heard this........Hello mate I’ve got a delivery for you and it’s to big to go through your letter box. Ok mate, I said, leave it by the side of the car. I can’t do that mate, he said you will need to go into your house and come out again so I know you live here ! I can’t at the moment, I called out from underneath my car, because I’m painting the underneath of my car and I’ve got paint all over my hands. You will have to, he said or I can’t leave it. Ok mate in that case, I called out, I’m currently out at the moment and should be back home this afternoon after 3pm He went away and believe it or not came back at 4pm and I opened my front door and took the delivery off him unbelievable !
  18. Finally the weather had been warm and dry enough over the last couple of days to start painting the underneath. I know it’s not the best time of year to start but I’ve been itching to do it since October when I bought it I knew the subframes were ok so after checking the rest of the floor, I started wire brushing and primed the rear section first (the easiest because it’s jacked up on the driveway) and it could rain at anytime Today I’ve done the first coat of paint on the areas that I prepared, I was hoping to get a second coat on but this time of year it’s taking ages to dry.
  19. Well this is one of the only pictures I can find of my first Celica. A 2003 thunder grey 190 T Sport. I did a lot of work on it and even more mileage
  20. I think he/she is working on the principal, if you don’t ask you don’t get I do like that paint though.
  21. That’s really interesting. Cheers
  22. Yeah I found that website about the Red Collection when I was looking to buy mine. I wish I had found a site that told me how much a spare master key with a transponder chip was going to cost me ..........oh well beans on toast for the next two months
