From dealing with him, seems to have more work and demand than he can actually cope with. Really pleased with my centre caps and wheel centre but does take a while.

In fairness, there's a base spec Celica like there's a base spec Focus. You can get all the parts bin stuff you want to plug on and make it look like an RS if you didn't buy one initially. I can't think of many cars (that aren't halo brand marque cars) that don't have a poverty spec. When my last car got written off I was given a bottom of the bottom spec brand new Focus and it remains the worst driving experience of my life - and I used to own a Hyundai Accent with 300km, no functional brakes or exhaust on it that we didn't dare change the oil as it was very likely holding the engine together. Saying that, why they thought the base spec Celica owner would want to go off-roading I have no idea. Defaulting to 4x4 ride height was a weird one.

I know what you mean, but I feel like having a sleek interior without any messing around with ultimately pointless things that (can) break or go wrong is a sign of a more modern car too. You don't see any audiophiles going for the ten speaker setup, for example. Personally I don't want silly bells and whistles in a two door coupe. The only things I'd add to a Gen 7 interior realistically is cruise. To me, throwing the kitchen sink into a car just means they were trying to out-do other brands with gimmicks. That said, JDM cars do tend to have a bad rep for interiors post millenium. I've heard a fair bit of complaining about Subaru and Nissan interiors too.

If someone held up a sign saying "services?" to me on the motorway I'd assume I was being propositioned and he meant the bathroom... I'm gonna assume to bring the cost down and because no-one's ever really thought "I wish my car had a pop up steering wheel and lots of speakers". Gen 7 got 190bhp (er, ish) out of a 1.8 engine, and has everything that most people want? The chassis is like 16 years old now and I feel like it holds up as a strong example of an old car that doesn't feel dated.

You should be able to prize off the middle of your current centre caps and leave a void to put them in - clean that with tar and glue/degreaser and give it a light sand and they should hold

Except that's absolutely not true in any sense, as we've established in this thread... you don't claim on your insurance if you're not at fault. Insurance covers vehicles without MOT so long as the incident wasn't caused by an issue stopping the car being roadworthy. MOT and insurers have literally no relation, MOT is proof of roadworthyness and insurance is a policy with a company to cover costs of at-fault and non-fault accidents, assuming the car is roadworthy. Even if it isn't road worthy, like the lights don't cast a correct beam pattern, if you crash in daylight then why should it be considered? If your car isn't roadworthy because it's brakes don't work and you rear end someone, then yeah, insurance isn't going to pay out. Will leave it there as feels like this is going in circles a bit!

He's not even claiming against his insurance... if he'd hit someone without having an MOT, but it would pass (which is the important bit if you're at fault), should it have any say in an insurance policy? Insurers sell insurance, they don't enforce road law, the police and state do. If it's shown to be illegal/would have failed MOT, the insurance is void. Otherwise, it's still an insurance policy.

Still not how the law works, as mentioned earlier and confirmed by his insurer - they're not going to chase a claim that they won't win.

The law is that if it's not MOTed and is in an incident, that if an MOT fail contributes to the accident your insurance is void. On the plus side, a) stationary and not going through his insurance. I've been through all this with a little brother and a lack of MOT and confirmed this

Doesn't make any difference if you're MOT'ed or not if you're not at fault: there's nothing to stop you saying you were hit on the way to the test centre anyway. They might check it over, but not sure what kind of MOT fail would cause vans to hit you while stationary.

Is the chassis straight? I got rear ended and my car ended up getting written off, although it looked like a body shop job initially. I'd claim, for future safety.

So I'm sorting a steering wheel centre for my new wheel, and getting four new centre cap covers off locking-vinyl. Which do you prefer... The TRD one should look silver and domed like the t-sport ones. I dunno how I feel about having the TRD logo on a t-sport, if it's a bit disingenuous or not? I have a GT86 (knockoff) trd gearknob tho... Or, maybe don't have matching caps/steering wheel and go for TRD steering wheel and t sport caps? Any other ideas or thoughts appreciated, I'm terrible at the creative side
