  1. so this happened probably last year or the year before, what i did was just clean the area and spray some laquer over it. but now im wanting to do more of a permanent fix to it. i dont think it warrants a new paint spray job thats gonna cost loads. whats the best way to fix this so that it doesnt get any worse? this is on the bonnet where the bumper meets drivers side.
  2. doubt it the master. have you checked to see if one side pads are retracting more then the other side?
  3. I thought that a 3rd partys insurance cannot write off your car and only your own insurance company can write it off. 3rd partys insurance can only repair it?
  4. For brake imbalance you mentioned you changed the calipers and hoses. Did you also get new brake pads and possibly discs too?
  5. should work, iv swapped over from vpower to tescos momentum 99. no difference other than 5 quid saving per tank full.
  6. Either way a potential gen8 i doubt will be a na high revver. Everything is getting a turbo slapped to it these days.
  7. so what will power the gen 8 celica? 1.4 turbo?
  8. my bros a car trader and if the customer looks decent (not a chav) then bro just hands them the keys to the car so they can have a drive around by themselves.
  9. Gonna drop this bomb in here and lets see everyones reaction: https://archive.is/OVn0S gen7 celica to ferrari conversion.

  11. odd that the stock studs seem short since the thread is not long enough to go through the entire nut. wondering if i should upgrade all the studs to 1cm longer ones?
  12. job done i replaced the stud with genuine toyota one. very easy job to do, just as the guide linked above shows.
  13. will do, will have to knock out the old one and measure
  14. dang wondering if this is the one i need:
  15. thanks for the reply ams, i just searched the net and found a guide: https://www.celicahobby.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/281909/wheel-stud-hub-bolt-how-to-replace.html looks like the hub doesnt need to be removed just as you said so thats sounds like an easy job. im wondering if i should replace all 5 of them? whats the length of the standard bolts?
  16. so i over tightened a wheel nut and its snapped the stud. this is for the front drivers side wheel. how hard is it to replace this? does the hub have to be removed? or is it like fords and can be hammered from the front till it pops out the back? also Mr T wants £4.50p per stud i dunno if thats expensive but i found these on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-Toyota-Wheel-Stud-63mm-Long-14-3mm-Spline-SSVO-/280621286711 but not sure if they are the correct size. any help on this please peeps.
  17. I managed to get a fair bit off it removed using a brush. But thats the only way it will shift. I tried brake cleaner soak and even soaked it in gunk degreaser and even hot water which made no difference. But any parts you can touch with a tissue or brush or your finger will clean out and become clear. Iv recently bought a pressure washer so will give that a try too.
  18. Cool. Is it worth trying to use rust remover and wire brush? Or just go with new discs? Does the rust affect brake force or balance?
  19. i had a feeling the pads not moving properly could be the cause. i replaced those metal things the pad slides on. hopefully it clears up the disc.
  20. Hmm cant remember when the avensis setup was done. Im thinking 2 or 3 years ago. Car is not used much. One day a week usually or less.
  21. these were pagid discs and pads i got from eurocarparts. cost around 40 quid per disc. if its gonna happen again then dunno if i should just get cheaper discs? i can get mintex or delphi discs for 50quid for the pair!!
  22. ahh cool, should i replace the discs and pads or can they continue to be used? they passed the MOT 3 weeks ago on the brake force meter. last week i noticed this and bought new guides that go in the calipers that the pads slide on. old ones were bit rusty and had brake dust on them.
  23. so i was inspecting the brakes on the car and noticed that the front drivers side disc has a dodgey wear pattern to the inside of it. it looks like this: the outside of the disc which is visible form just looking at the wheel looks perfectly clean like new. what would cause this type of wear to happen. looks like the pad is not touching the outer and inner part of the disc. and the rust is probably grinding up the pad. the passenger side is a lot better but i could see that rust was starting to form on side of the disc that faces the hub. the sliders are moving freely. its the avensis setup and discs and pads have done probably 10k miles, pads look like new with lots of meat on them. if the sliders were a problem wouldnt the outside part of the disc be affected, the side facing the wheel? since that side grabs on using sliders?
