Maybe not, but if you're in need of new discs, you may as well as they give a much better appearance behind the wheel than a solid disc.
That's primarily why I had mine drilled and grooved. I won't be tracking this for some time so it's just fast road use. My discs were shot, so while ordering new MTEC discs I just had them drilled and grooved to look better, and I don't think anyone can disagree on that. They look far better.
Sorry you can see the discs better in my other photos, but that one's a better picture overall.
In terms of which you should go for though, grooved or dimpled & grooved will be personal preference. I had drilled but I heard that drilled discs are weaker as there's less material due to being drilled thus making weak spots, but I'm not being funny; you'd have to be absolutely hammering them on a track over and over again to cause that kind of damage.
So in other words, it's just personal preference
