  1. If we both pushed!!! If the Beams is 15 secs, I think 16's may be optimistic!!
  2. also, has anyone taken a gen 6 GT on a quarter mile, I have been online and expect a time of around 16 seconds, does this sound reasonable?
  3. Anyone here going? went there a couple of years ago and had a good day, usually pleant of fun and freebies This year however hoping to take the Celica down the strip, pre mod time trials on the 1/4 mile
  4. Thats a pretty Gen 7!!! attention to detail is stunning! looks like something straight out of NFS underground!!!
  5. before the Moderators hover over the 'move it button', all will come good in the end..... The GT is currently with the Ex wife as I have her (actually still my) 04 Avensis for its 100,000 mile service and MOT (loved that car!!) so took the Mazda 6 to work today, as it was a typical Scottish Summers day, I was driving slowly due to the floods and Sleet!!!!! 2 miles from home the engine decided it wasn't playing and left me at the side of a narrow country road hidden in white smoke.... Anyhew as she has the GT and I have work tomorrow, I have been given a courtesy car.......... wait for it.......... 1995 Gen 6 ST!! Result!!! ps anyone wanna buy a Mazda 6!!
  6. Oh those!! yeah, they wouldn't suit your car anyhew!! Cant wait for next week they should be some of many things arriving...... Postman Pat's going to have a hernia!! faster and grippier!........
  7. Which ones ? the Wolfies (as seen at Blyton)? have sooo many sets of wheels now..... Also noticed since Blyton the car seems to be geting quicker and quicker now! must have been really clogged up !!
  8. I had only done about 150 miles in the car before heading off on Friday, I now know a lot more about the car. fixed the brake caliper issues last week and have now been able to really drive it for past few days (and had nothing fall off!!!)
  9. saw Grey Racer with one of these (or similar) at Blyton, want a gen 6 version!!!!!
  10. usually always have duct tape tiewraps (cableties) and WD40 in both cars, wire coathanger is a crackin addition! only place I know does them is local dry cleaners, couple of pairs of latex gloves are also handy (£3.50 for box of 100 gloves (50 pair)) at local motor factors!
  11. ok, in here rather than mods as this is a theory excercise.... IF I was to decide to mod the car as a street / track car, what would be your advice / choices as to what should be done... been thinking of this option for a couple of months (before it was even on the road!!) but still cannot decide what / if it should be done.. another option would be to get another Celica and have dedicated street car and one for tracking, but budgetry constriants and all that..... firstly, the car... (and what's been done so far!!) 1994 Gen6 GT --- Engine GS3E 150,000 miles and both standard and pretty much untested (done 1000 miles in past week and seems ok!!!) . induction kit (origon unknown (K&N fitted died so 'found one') assisted with 3inch to 2 inch 'induction' pipe from front grille to filter, hits 7000 with no issues (1st to 3rd tested, cant find enough road for next two gears!!) did 130 in her and she was still eager!!!! exhaust has been de catted, but a more useable version is in planning! all fliuds, filters and belts changed, spark plugs not changed as it runs well (if it aint broke dont fix it attitude for MOT) --- Suspension lowered what seems to be 40mm (oof!) springs of origon unknown but they aint broke!!! new Sumo Gas struts on rear. ---Drivetrain General standard Gbox, no issues with selection new droplinks all round new wheel bearings on front, drilled and grooved disks with mintex pads all round. Wolfrace 17inch wheels with 215x40 tyres (which I realise post Blyton are shit!!) they were bought on impulse for MOT purposes offset unknown (need to measure this!!) so from that starting point here is what I have bought / am in the process of getting Full FIA approved roll cage 5 point harness twin pot front calipers with Yellow Stuff pads LSD gearbox so looking forward, what should I do? first point I think should be wheels/tyres for purely track use (8" wide 17") intend rolling arches so what can I get away with (dont want to spacer existing wheels as think this could affect handling.) Suspension - coilovers or superstrut - supers would be better on road use but are coilies better for track? Brakes - don't want to go for GT4 four pots as (unless I am incorrect) these are feckin big and will limit the wheel choice! but is it worth upgrading rears beyond the drilled grooved disks that are on it? induction - intend getting better filter (suggestions please) which ideally will enter from front of car to minimise heat issues or build a shield box (which is not as pretty) on a shorter system. biggest issue curraently is that the roll cage would mean the rear seat would go (in fact car may need stripped out completely of all comforts (not that htere is many) and I couldn't get both of my sons into the car hence thinking of seperate track car in the future. there is a lot of questions up here as I really have no focus on the correct way forward, please answer as full on Gen6 track car and for Street / track car, all suggestions welcome!! (p.s. for those who don't know the car is 'The mistress' on the Gen 6 forum) Cheers John
  12. like I stole it! !!! to clarify, hoon it to speed limit then cruise, but when opportunity allows, gets a bit 'extra!' most of the time however it will sit at limit smooth and sweet, sometimes even really slowly to watch passing cars with a 'what is that?' look on their faces!! lovin it!!
  13. brakes were never as strong as I am used to (drove the Mazda yesterday and hit the pedal like I do in the Celica, nearly went out the windscreen!!) but they are a lot weaker than even they were, thinking I could have cooked the fluid? (level is still ok) goes a bit flighty on heavy braking now, but that could be down to the roads around here, was ok in Englandshire. once I get 'real' caliper and hub on I can reassess (will need to bleed again then anyhew!)
  14. Meant to check mine before I left Blyton, did check them at the hotel next day and all were fine, had enough bits falling off the car that weekend.... Brakes are also very spongey and probably due to tiny ST front left, pulls a bit funny now!! Good call David!
  15. ok SEATS not Seats... oh crap you know what I mean!...... Central Scotland, too far away for collection at the price they may make! not as if they are OZ Chronos!! (Brian!!)
  16. Ooh I like them, collect in person is a bitch however! (starts internet search for Seats......)
  17. Ooooh logged on to GT5 on PS3 for first time in ages, look what they gave me for free!!! 86 GT 2012, 192 bhp @7000 rpm FR drivetrain, off to play! saw the ads for what some in Toyota class 'The new Celica', saw it liked it! found out yesterday, my mates dad works as Toyota salesman (discount!?!) and won £68 on lottery yesterday also..... today logged on to GT5 (reason unknown) and found this as a gift...... someone trying to tell me something!!!!!!
  18. Most informative and usefull thing I have joined since I became a Scout in 1981...... Without you guys, i would never be close to getting the celica on the road, Thanks all for a fab place to be.
  19. I have used Hammerite for 20 years, once did a full Vauxhall Nova in black 'Smootherite' and a 2 inch brush!!..... just thought I'd share....
  20. Just make sure you keep the carpet clean........ Why not put one in the boot? boot light are never bright enough! and its already wired.....
  21. My Gen 6 GT replaced the wife, both to serve the same purpose, ignore them all week and take her out at the weekend and abuse her........ Really sorry about that one, couldn't resist..... The car did replace the wife however! Would like to add however, my 2 boys love it and I am a 'cool dad' for probably the fist time ever!..
  22. Those are what I eventually want for the Gen 6, like the photo rendering JO3, you MUST get these Rich, they are so sweeet... Jealous!....
