  1. Grooved/dimpled with EBC yellowstuff pads here. Zinc plated too, stops the bits around the disc face going rusty so things look nice. Stops on a dime as well ....but eats pads and yeas, ticks like mad. Makes it sound like a Ford Thinking about it, my last set of discs were grooved TRD ones and they didn't tick. Hm.
  2. There was a VX220 at PVS this year done up like Lightning McQueen. Shape of the car suited it quite well. As for a Celica though - negative.
  3. I run 225/40/18 on mine with no problemos at all. Actually find the speedo is pretty darned accurate too - bonus! Off the top of my head I can't remember the wheel width though - think its 7.5". Still, the tyre fits in the arch without a hitch.
  4. And another black 205 with front lip (L reg, but looked like a private plate) seen today on the way home, heading west on the M27 3 days, 3 GT4s. Win
  5. Seen two here of late - silver 205 with a TRD(?) wing in the naval base yesterday lunchtime. Then a black 205 with projector headlights heading onto the M275 this morning. Both looking nice Makes me want to be driving mine. Instead of the crappy overheating cavalier
  6. Stag? Cooling problems are easily fixed.
  7. I had an old 'insert key' type thatcham approved immobiliser on my first Nova. It was Ok, but the problem was after a few years the key took a bit of jiggling in the slot to make a good contact.
  8. The law was amended a while back to allow for postage of online tax discs. If you've completed the online stuff, paid etc, then you're Ok to drive even without a tax disc. Probably wise to carry the receipt with you though just in case, although the car won't ping up on PNC or ANPR
  9. I assumed "limited edition"... I did think it might have been 185 RC/CS, but there's more than 1 or 2 of them around! By looking at the quantities and dates, I figured GT-4 was ST205, GT4 Turbo was ST185 and GT-Four was ST165. GT 2.0 would be the ST202 and GT the ST182. But I guess its just down to however DVLA recorded them at time of registration.
  10. Legal limits for light throughput: Windscreen: 75% Side windows: 70% (side as in, level with and ahead of the driver) Rear windows: no limit (anything behind the driver) As said, bear in mind even "clear" glass will restrict light throughput to a small degree, and car glass is almost always slightly tinted from the factory. If you want to play it totally safe, leave the front sides and windscreen clear and just do the rear sides and back window.
  11. Good news. I'm taking my GT4 down there tomorrow actually so I expect he'll be all Celica'd out by then
  12. "Jack with the sh!tty blue Nova" should do it Dunno if the other guys who work there will know it so well but Craig will as he MOTs it
  13. Pop up tents save a lot of hassle, especially if you're only camping somewhere for one night. You don't want to spend most of your time erecting (oo-er) your accommodation if you're going to have to then take it down again the next day! I've just bought a pop up 2-man (as in spacious two man, not two midget!) one from Blacks, half price down to £30. I think this is it. Cleaning wipes (i.e. flash wipes and the likes) are also on my essentials list too, saves having to faff with washing stuff when you can just give it a wipe clean. Again useful if you're only doing one night somewhere. I'd say my essentials for a one nighter would be: - Tent (as above, small/quick one) - Sleeping bag, maybe inflatable matress or groundsheet - Food - its good to include the odd item that doesn't need cooking in case you CBA. Hot cross buns are a favourite of mine, last a few days and make a good snack or breakfast - Drink - plenty of water, especially if its going to be hot - Cooking stove (& gas), kettle (& tea & milk!), utensils - Cleaning wipes - Squaddywash - Lamp/torch - Camping chair - Suntan lotion if you're going anywhere in the summer months; even if its cloudy you can still burn. Maybe a few other bits and bobs depending on where you're going and what the weather is like, but IMO thats the basics. I wouldn't bother so much with cutlery and plates etc for a short stay, really not worth it (man up and use your hands ). Mind you I don't really bother with car cleaning stuff either, but again that depends on the events you go to I guess!
  14. No problems with 18x7.5 on mine, still handles fine. I have 225/40/18 KU31s which are pretty good, prior to that I had FK452s in the same size which I also rate well.
  15. Mate of mine, Craig, owns CWF Poulten on Weston Grove Road in Woolston and looks after all my cars. If they're local to you it might be worth dropping by or giving them a call to see if they can help.
  16. I've found Admiral multicar to be expensive as well in the past, more so than individual policies! The initial price they quote me always looks good, but then you realise only one of the cars is covered for a few months just to sync the renewals  Anyways. Yeah, you can only use NCB on one car at a time (which is a complete farce!), however some companies will mirror NCB. Sky will - they currently insure all 3 of my wagons with mirrored NCB. So that could be worth looking in to. The other option is a limited mileage policy; as the pug will only be pootling to the shops and back you might only need about 3-4k a year on it which could save a few quid. But then, especially if its only doing a few miles a year, you need to calculate if the added cost of insurance/tax/MOT etc is actually going to save you money in the long run - if it works out you'll be saving £1,000 on your annual fuel bill but spending £900 on tax insurance and MOT, is it really worth it? As for the insurance/tax thing, if the car is taxed you need insurance. If its declared off road (SORN) you don't need insurance. Its a pain in the backside (and expensive!) to have to keep SORN'ing and taxing a car though, so its not really viable to temp insure it for whenever you need it.
  17. In the Celica, nothing as I drive it like a grandad! In the Nova, most things.
  18. I run the tank to around 1/4 (I think, as my fuel gauge is broked ) then fill up each time. Makes it easier to track MPG, and I honestly can't be bothered to spend any more time than really necessary at the pumps. I don't really mind putting £80 in as opposed to 4x £20, as its all the same money at the end of the day, and even if the price fluctuates by 3 or 4p thats only about £2 difference on 60 odd litres. As for people paying on card in stations with card pumps - that confuses me too! Mind you, at my local Asda, the card pump lane is always the most clear one so it just means I don't have to queue as long. So that makes up for it
  19. My Kazeras were something like $700 purchase & shipping (back in 2006 that was just shy of £400) then iirc I had to pay around £150 to release them from the courier (customs, admin fees etc). That was from TireRack.
  20. I'm after a CF bonnet for mine, that'd do me nicely. Just need to wait for RTP to get some back in stock!
  21. No, afaik only late models have OBDII Not sure if you can get a conversion cable though, if that would work...?
  22. These any good? Weston Super Mare pier: ...and just down the road at Burnham-On-Sea:
