  1. Just mooching through some old (2014!) pics of the GT4 and found a few worthy of this thread. This is one of them...
  2. I used these guys to move my Super Bee a couple weeks back from Bristol to Cam. Only thing to mind is the weight limit as most of them will be 1500kgs tops (the Bee was partially stripped so I risked it ) but that should be fine for anything celica related! Would deffo use them again though.
  3. Happy 11 Anniversary Razorjack!

  4. Had my GT4 just over 11 years - bought it Feb 2005 on 99k, now on 194k. It was first used September 95 so technically it's now below average mileage...
  5. Happy 10 Anniversary Razorjack!

  6. Happy Anniversary Razorjack!

  7. Tell the garage you're going to leave it with them to fix the levellers and washers
  8. Happy Anniversary Razorjack!

  9. I've had HIDs in my ST205 - with standard non-projector type lenses - for about 6 years now iirc. Never had a problem with glare, never had a problem with MOTs, even had comments from testers saying how good the beam pattern is. I didn't go for a cheap chinese ebay £30 kit though, and have a 6000K kit which actually gives out a good crisp white light unlike the cheap ebay jobs which (also at 6000K) seem to be quite green/blue in comparison. I've posted pics on here before of the beam pattern and how they look on the road. I also run HIDs in the Nova, which uses BMW E30 euro smiley lamps which are fine. However in the cav, the beam pattern went all over the shop despite various combinations of lenses and reflectors (including the later spec reflectors with the builtin lamp shields). So they got taken out of there in favour of some filament bulbs.
  10. Keep it usable would be my choice. The second pic I don't think looks right as the wheel is too far up in the arch, looks a bit lost. I drove the cav with some GSi wheels on for a few months - it spent most of that with its exhaust carving a path down the road!
  11. https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/home/intro?skin=directgov ^ Click on Vehicle Enquiry, put in your reg and manufacturer and it will tell you when its due and the price t opay for 6 or 12 months
  12. Last time I looked into it, there's no restriction on where you book the MOT so long as you go straight there (only diversions for essential things such as fuel).
  13. Some companies I've been with before have small print that says they reduce cover to third party only, put your excess up massively etc if you have no valid MOT. Not sure how that would apply to a car that was laid up on the driveway waiting an MOT though, i.e. if it got broken into! As for an MOT being valid for 12 months, what about if the coppers pull you over and decide they don't like something about your car - I thought they could make you go take an MOT? Surely that means your 'current' MOT would then be invalid/canceled?
  14. Can anyone recommend a decent body shop in the Bristol area? Or possibly Dorset. I'm after some rust removal, as I currently have some nice holes where my rear arches used to be I've had one place look at it and offer to cut out the rust and replace with fresh metal (I'd prefer that to a jam-it-with-filler job) at £500 a side. Which is pretty much almost the value of the car, but hey
  15. I soaked most of the Nova in Kurust, then a couple coats of hammerite. Works really well.
  16. I considered a twin turbo years back but bought an ST205 instead; if it was a toss up between a 185 and the GTO, the latter would probably be my choice. But between the 205 and the GTO TT, I'd say they're pretty comparible cars. Both 4wd turbo (albeit different engines/power), both readily available in UK and JDM models, both the same size (GTO is actually smaller in every dimension except length!), both are pretty reliable except for gearboxes lol What put me off the GTO was the price at the time, they were a few grand over the 205 for a good MkII, and have a weight figure somewhere in the region of "moon". Plenty of gizmos to go wrong. And apparently the drive quality was said to be a bit uninspiring as well, although I didn't get as far as a test drive in one.
  17. afaik the law and MOT merely talk about colour of the light emitted, not the actual lamp itself. No doubt plod would assume that a blue tinted lamp would emit blue light though
  18. Same, mine is about to clock onto 184, also original turbo Stem seals need doing though as its blowing a bit of smoke on idle
  19. Oil pressure should be a simple 3-wire install I think - Ignition (power), ground, and one from the sender? For lighting, the illumination wire could be connected either to ignition live or to the dimmer switch on the dash maybe. I put mine onto ignition live as the dials are pretty dark even in daylight, so wanted them lit up all the time. I used a blanked off vac pipe underneath the inlet when installing my EBC, that measures the boost pressure fine (thats on a 3SGTE though, not sure if the 3SFE would have similar blanks). Incidentally, in the manual for that it recommended not to connect boost gauges etc to vac pipes by the DV. Not sure why, and my analogue boost gauge works fine from being tee'ed off the DV vac pipe!
  20. Had some in the Colt since about January and still going Ok. Been through about two sets of LED sidelights in that time though!
  21. In terms of MOT, so long as the beam pattern and colour is acceptable you're Ok. If you have levelling devices and washers, they have to work - if you don't have them, they're not testable.
  22. Feb 2005 - so 7 years 5 months. I would have sold it on in favour of an Evo7 or something old and American by now, but its not worth anything so no point selling
  23. As seen on ebay... Filter 1.0 bar Decat Exhaust 340bhp. I see GT4s listed all the time as being 300bhp with just a filter and exhaust...
  24. 165, 185 or 205? As said, fuel these days is the biggest cost Mine is very much a second car now, I wouldn't want to use it every day due to cost and wear/tear. But it has done 180k+ and still goes well. Insurance is relatively good compared to similar cars, I pay £290 but its a UK model. I'd be interested in where to get a turbo for £200 though, I think mine is on the way out
  25. Yeah, Somerset. That pic was from early 2010 though when I had nothing better to do with my time than pootle round in the snow Had some more last winter: Nothing yet this season though - in fact its wall-to-wall sunshine out there at the mo!
