  1. Tom Brady took me for a little spin in his Faff early last year. Felt lovely and rapid and gave a satisfying push back into the seat when he floored it. That said, I still enjoyed getting back in the Beams and giving it a bit of stick. Yes, it doesn't have "boost" but it picks up quickly through the gears and certainly isn't any sort of slouch! Cravo: thought about a Beams, mate....?
  2. MYK's had an absolute nightmare trying to A. find one to buy and B. get one imported into the UK without being bankrupted by the charges! He's definitely the best person to speak to about this.
  3. Not sure how to respond to that, Ash....!
  4. It was certainly not my finest hour. Part of the problem was that the size of all the parts increased by the thickness of the material, so everything became a very snug fit - upon refitting, there ended up being some movement in the Alcantara and it ended up looking crap in places. One way around that would be to reduce the size of the original parts by the relevant amount. If you imagine the Gen 7 central fascia, for example, you'd look to remove 1mm of plastic from every single edge in a bid to ensure that the fit was spot-on once it was all trimmed.
  5. I tried covering the whole lot in Alcantara for someone and it was, frankly, an awful task! The finish left a lot to be desired too. In hindsight, the best way to do it would be to use lots of sections sewn together, rather than trying to do it using a single piece (like I tried to do). I know the guy I did it for was less than enthused with the end result.
  6. Smoothrite works fine on calipers, Mike. I've done a few sets using it
  7. Does anyone know if the airbag from a Gen 7 steering wheel would be compatible with a late-spec Gen 6 wheel...?
  8. I'll confess to being surprised how much brake disc goes unused with that Wilwood conversion...! I know the larger diameter disc will provide more braking force but I'd have expected larger pads / calipers to make full use of the disc's surface area...
  9. I imagine they'd have to be completely stripped down because the baking process would (presumably) damage the piston seals. If they're brand new then it should be viable to just put them back together using all the original parts once they've been done.
  10. Wow! Hope she goes to a deserving home, mate.
  11. Did it specify if they were stainless steel nuts or not? I imagine they're just mild steel with some sort of (not necessarily rustproof) coating on. I have the same nuts on mine, but in red - no sign of any rust on mine at this point and they've been on the same amount of time roughly.
  12. As has already been said, there should be a metal bar behind the seat base that runs the full width of the seat. Pull that, and your seat backs tilt forward. To the best of my knowledge, all Cobra seats are fitted with this mechanism.
  13. Yeah, go for some off Mondo - I've heard his work is.... oh wait, it's me!! I'll reply to your PM shortly, Amanda. I'd charge more than they do though, I'm afraid... That ad has me puzzled - how can the handbrake gaiter fit a Gen 5 and a Gen 6 when the handles are completely different...???
  14. There's a guy round here has a white Gen 6 so we'll flash lights if we see each other. He usually looks a bit envious though... To be honest, the Beams seems to turn a lot of heads since I've moved here. Can't think why......
  15. Goodbye to yet another of Wickie's Celicas...!
  16. Are we classing late SS-IIIs as a rare or special car here...?
  17. That's what I was thinking, Ray - just wanted to bounce the idea off someone else.
  18. If you were going to put LED bulbs in your rear lights, would you use white ones or red ones (for the main lights, obviously)....?
  19. They're the ones I was leaning towards myself. So I've just bought them!
