  1. Didn't use any grease on the sliders - they're the bolts that hold the caliper on to the holder on the fronts. As for the piston and seals, I just cleaned everything with brake cleaner and then lubed up with clean brake fluid. Am thinking that I didn't smooth down the edges enough, but will also get some of this red rubber grease for the sliders. Will let you know after Saturday....
  2. Yeah, deffo sticking caliper and it's the one that had the most recent service - although I can't remember if I smoothed down the edges just inside the dust seal where the piston passes over, mmmmm Only got short journeys to make this week, but it's noticeably warmer than the other side. Am gonna change the flexi lines too just incase me clamping them with a mole grip has damaged owt!!!!
  3. So in the last year i've refurbed both my front calipers with new seals and pistons. Today after a 20 mile drive on the motorway I noticed there was a fair bit of heat coming off them and the alloys were hot. I could just about touch the alloy on the drivers side (this was refurbed 4 month ago) and the passenger side was a bit cooler but still warm. So uneven heat tells me one is sticking more than the other, but why after I've done them?!?! Now when I took them off I did clamp the flexi hoses with a grip - could they have been damaged and would this affect things? Any help appreciated.
  4. See i'm quite impressed with the fact the 190 can hold up against a Corsa VXR, I half expected to see it had done you Paul. Now the one little car that has shocked me recently was 06 or 07 Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart - quick little buggers when the turbo kicks in!!!! Although we were heading uphill so I guess the lighter car and similar torque (i think it has similar) might have come in to play. But then the bends appeared...
  5. Just don't move it anywhere between Keighley and Harrogate - fab roads up that way....
  6. So your Dad damages the car and only pays half for the repair??? I guess you must love him mate
  7. So your Dad damaged your bumper and is only paying half for the bumper or half for the whole lot??? Either way it's a good price mate - i'm paying £350 for a bumper, lip, skirts and valance which i thought was a good deal.
  8. Remove the 'shocker' Wow, I ain't going down to Somerset anytime soon. How's the fact you like to give two in the pink & one in the stink offensive??? I mean the middle finger is used as an offensive gesture, but the shocker...?!?!? BTW, 32mm grom is fine - no sanding or anything and IMHO will give a much better seal than 30mm. I should try and do a group buy on these grommets and persuade every G7 driver to 'TAKE OFF THEIR REAR WIPER!!!'
  9. You get used to it mate - bit of rainX and the rear window heaters and you can see enough. My theory is you should be looking out of your front window, not the back one
  10. Toyota symbol on the number plate where a nations ID should be??? p.s. get rid fo the wiper on the rear - you'll thank me for it, honestly
  11. Already tried for the 2nd hand caliper mate, but no avail unless i want to pay out £60 Will certainly come and have the bolt removed - do you have any ideas how much a new one is?
  12. Thank you Ant, if there's no-one closer then i'll be happy to take up the offer - although i was hoping to overhaul the brake caliper at the same time while it's off, but that's a quick enough job if everything goes to plan and you're happy for me to do it whilst i'm there? As for hammering in an allen key or torque socket - given it's quite important that i get this right first time with the brakes i'd rather not chance it. Tried that with the engine cover bolt and it didn't work
  13. Well when it rains it bloody pours!!! I have three bolts/screws on my car that have decided to snap or round themselves off at the same time, the saving grace is the car is still fully operational but i could do with sorting them out sooner rather than later. Now I know i can drill them out but don't have the tools and have never done it before, so i'm now pleading to any kind members in my area who might be able to help. One of the screws - the one that the qtr cirlce thing at the end of the throttle cable sits on - i can get out myself with pliers. the two that i will struggle with are a snapped bleed nipple on my rear n/s brake - the half that's still in there is at least keeping the brake fluid in - and one of the engine cover screws - the hex at the top has rounded off. So please, please can anyone help at any point in the next month
  14. Wow!!! I have no idea where Orpington is, but i'm having bumper, lip, skirts and valance sprayed for £350 - and before anyone says it, i have seen the work they've done and am very happy to send my custom. Oh, they're based in Barnsley.
  15. Where is this noise coming from - front or back? I am getting this noise but it's from the back and i'm putting it down to the sh!t guard or the shoes inside the hub. I do get the squeal, but am thinking of removing a shim to try and solve that problem.
  16. Feckin hell!!! You having an affair or something mate???
  17. Top stuff Although getting very close to month end and copper jar time Can't wait for this kit - considering I ordered one in January from elsewhere and then Custom jumped to the rescue
  18. Can just imagine a newly passed Chris hitting lift for first time... Chris - Aaaarrrrgh, so that's what lift feels like when driving!!!! Paul - Aaaarrrrgh, so that's what it feels like to hit a tree when in passenger seat!!!!
  19. Top stuff Chris mate - chuffed for you!!! Get yourself a Wakaba leaf from ebay, slap it on your Dad's car and off you go mate
  20. http://www.ecotekplc.com/PowerBoost.htm Has anyone used this stuff? I've got a can sat in the cupboard and wanted to know if it was worth the effort pulling the airfilter off both the Celica and MR2 to put it through the engine?
  21. Will happily put money on it getting either the Celica or Supra name. Won't be MR2 because it's front engined. BTW, OT here but did you get your Domo rich?
  22. Looks like an Avensis, or worse still a sporty Prius!!! It is nice-ish, but certainly not a Celica
  23. Have you left your phone at work again Mr Planc???
  24. Looks and performance, just like my woman Comfort = fat Handling = too much fat or loose skin to grab Reliability = ugly as sin so won't leave you Practical with big boot = dull and has a big fat arse Crayon = owned one and got rid to buy the Celica
