not a fan, I imagine with it going through a valve you wont get as much out and any sludge wont get past the valve either, I expect it will take longer to drain as well
-
Great to hear this has stayed in the club
-
celica ones arent worth that much, genuine ones £35 - £40, aftermarket - £10 - £15 - thats on the g7 - the earlier ones are even less.
-
There are drains at the bottom of the doors - if you block these your doors will rot.
I wouldnt put wax in there - would poke the holes to make sure they are not blocked though
-
Agree on Scottish cars - have seen some that have been really bad from there. Most coastal cars seem to be bad
Cars from around the midlands seem to be ok.

I have 2 front subframes left now if anyone needs one - when they are gone they are gone
-
Im cutting some sills out of a car this week for a customer , looking at that spare wheel well I think I might cut that out as well for future use
-
The sills have been rotting on some of these for a while now, more than 5 years when I first found a rotten one after taking the side skirts off, looked fine with the skirts on
-
If you can wait a month or so, my old mechanic might be able to do it.
-
The back of that wheel need flatting back
Those wheel use taper nuts - ill try and find some of the original ones and get a pic up in case they are a ball taper
The other thing is worn bushes - but you would get a wobble on hard braking after about 40-50mph as well
-
Rules tightened up on it last year, he has put it down as an advisory to cover his back.

Maybe too many ecological legislation hurdles coming our way too.
Yep - clean air zone coming to Birmingham centre next year - doesnt really go anywhere near far enough to have a significant affect on air quality and suspect they will have to widen the area to the whole of birmingham within a few years which will make most of my cars in storage and my dailies unusable.

stick the charger on and keep it
you will regret stripping it

Revisit in a decade from now - Gen 7s will be far rarer, more interesting, desirable, and most probably far more valuable.
but usually its the unmodified ones that fetch top money
Assuming you pay £500 a year for barn storage, still cant see you recouping the storage costs in 10 years. Gen4s can still be picked up for a few grand.
-
Assuming you have had them balanced a second time and the problem remains then a problem I have seen in the past is the refurb places put too much paint on the back mating surface - so it doesnt give a flush flat finish against the hub - causing a wobble.. the other place is the centre hole where it mounts - thats easier to spot as they dont go on easy.
Post up a pic of the back of the wheel - might be worth sanding them back if thats the case

Unfortunately Ive seen charged cars go for 5k, I think even at 3k you would struggle to find a buyer, please dont take that as an insult to the work you have put into the car, its just the way prices are.

Health & safety do not come into it, With 40+ year old vehicles, the owner probably knows more about the vehicle than the MOT tester does.
Sorry no - I have seen many classics that look lovely on the outside but are rotten underneath.
Few years ago we had an old mini come in, beautiful on the outside and inside but was so bad underneath had the dangerous marker ticked on it, Guy was planning on selling it to someone who was coming down from Scotland that afternoon to buy it.
The main parts of the test are still relevant to a 40 year old car.

Klarius will generally last 2-3 years, genuine toyota are usually minimum 10 years and can usually be welded when they do go
-
From memory in OEM form the smaller one is for the 140, the larger one is supplied for the 190. Usually aftermarket for 140 they supply the same one that is used on most Toyotas.
-
If you get it wrong it can really affect handling. Lots of the MR2 guys end up going back to stock (wider rears) sizes after fitting the same size aftermarket wheels all round.
-
not usually a fan of bosch stuff, but found there batteries to be pretty good,
have used lion from euro car parts a lot and they tend to last 3 years
-
could be a faulty exhaust - can you hear any vibration in any of the silencers.
Would try and get euro to swap them for replacementsKlarius are on the cheaper end, would try a Bosal if you can get one - or try a good used oem one
-
As hes such a good friend I wouldnt risk it personally
One of my best mates fell out with me after doing him a favour on his car even though I was £2500 out of pocket as a result ( and didnt even say anything)
Unsightly brake dust!!

Mintex have a good reputation on here but I find they are very much a budget brand.
Before I opened the thread, I though I bet he's running mintex pads. I found they never lasted more than 10,000 miles - compared to 20-30k on other brands.
