  1. OK, next one. Your Celica in front of a boarded up shop.
  2. Taken at Postern Hill campsite and picnic area, Savernake Forest this morning.
  3. Don't waste your money on expensive detailing brushes for cleaning the engine bay, what you want is a decorator's long reach radiator brush. A couple of quid from any DIY shop. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LONG-REACH-RADIATOR-ANGLED-1-38mm-HEAD-PAINT-BRUSH-/300560349631
  4. Assuming the engine is running properly then all you should see is a bit of erosion on the electrode. There's a guide here with photos: http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/technical/diagnosis.htm
  5. You should get several years out of plugs. Take a couple out and check the condition. This is what Toyota say: replace at 18,000 miles (platinum at every 63,000 miles)
  6. I thought it was illegal to sell a car without the V5? If it's so easy to get a replacement document, why doesn't the seller get one? What's he got to hide? I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
  7. I would check the gearbox oil before you drive the car another metre. If they forgot to refill it after changing the clutch the 'box will be a write-off if you do more than a few miles.
  8. No. I've had 17 cars before the Celica and it's one of the best. Prevention is always better than cure, and the way to prevent car windows from misting up is to clean them. Absolutely 100% clean glass doesn't mist up at all, it's dirt that causes it. If you keep the glass as clean as you can misting will be kept to a minimum.
  9. I can't imagine any problems caused by running ac with the windows open, other than (theoretical) increased fuel consumption.
  10. For maximum drying use the ac plus warm air, with the heater set to fresh air not recirc. Slightly opening a window or sunroof will increase the airflow, which will also help.
  11. Have a read of this thread:
  12. I got front and rear Mintex pads for £50 from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220309855586
  13. 205/45-17 or 215/45-17 would be ideal. Tyre size calculator here if you want to compare the height of different tyres.
  14. I post this in the interests of balance. I have tried a can of this stuff in my '98 GT (110k miles). Figures: The product cost £18.50. Increase in mpg was zero. Time to recoup cost - infinity and beyond... Subjective: I have not noticed any changes. The car was running fine before, and it still is. Conclusions: Don't believe the hype. There seems to be an assumption that any engine over 10 years old must be full of crap and running like a dog. If your's is then it is probably worth running a cleaner like this through to maybe get an improvement, but the -GE engines are pretty clean fuel burners and not particularly prone to fouling up so if your engine is running sweet I wouldn't waste your money.
  15. How can there be differences of opinion on this matter? It tells you in the handbook exactly how to do it.
  16. I'd avoid that eBay set. It's made by Am-Tech, the brand responsible for most of the top quality tools found in pound shops and on market stalls. Here's a decent one at a bargain price: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sealey-2-Tonne-Service-Jack-/130513390637
  17. Tbh the set up at FCM looks pretty diy compared to Micheldever. But I know about FCM's reputation and I'm sure they do a top job.
  18. I had mine done at Micheldever Tyres last year for £29.
  19. Your Celica next to a sign that says 'welcome to...' on it.
  20. It's not my garage, it's 6 doors down.
  21. We did have 'how to' sub sections in each generation's forum, but when the Wiki software was added they were all merged into that. The reason you can't find the guides you want, or the detail in them that you want, is because no one has written them. We need to encourage people to write some content before fretting over how to organise it.
  22. Well GreyRacer used a real car but cheated with the Hello Kitty, and Angus used real Hello Kitty but cheated with the car. I'll give it to GreyRacer cos he's older
