trophytr5
I picked at the edge of the alloy disc with a scalpel then used a thin letter opener to lift the disc and cut the old adhesive.

cipprio
Yes used wet and dry but there was a fair bit of pitting. Was going to use alloy putty but the paint filled most of them. Araldite 5 mins for sticking back on. Should last a few years hopefully just don't put the first coat of laqeur on to thick and make sure the paint is well dry first. Akuma77
so do you have to remove the ally plate or can you clean it up left on the plastic cover?
cipprio
I removed it with a sharp knife. I found it easier than trying to sand it still attached.
Akuma77
so if you remove the plastic caps is there anything behind so i can leave them off the car for a short while
cipprio
The rear is ok as it's blank behind the cap but the front has the hub nut so I wouldn't recommend leaving it open for to long unless it's dry. Akuma77
yeah see the idea was to take all four of once ive got the graphics then spray them up but i suppose you could do al of the work over a day or so then refit so really not long they will be off. cipprio
That's what I've done. Luckily I have today off. I took them off yesterday afternoon rubbed them down and added base coat and let dry overnight. Laqeur this morning and another coat now ready to put back on later..put a nice thick coat on second and don't look to bad now.
daytona
Nice. I have dust caps like that and would do the centre caps to match but 1. Slugster's domed plastic ones will last for years 2. I'm far too lazy to jobs that don't need doing Edited February 16, 2015 by daytona
Akuma77
yep see engine plastic were very different when i had to spray them as i had to wait a few day for them to dry properly and wait a full month or them to cure before i could polish them up , im guessing they are different
