mikca01
has anyone imported a celica and if they have how much hastle was it? and was the final price better than it would have been if bought in the uk. had a quick look earlier and getting a car from japan to bristol is around £
Kazi
Remember you have import tax and duties, registration fees, parts for MOT and then the MOT on top of that at a bear minimum. There's a lot more to it than just getting it over as a mate if mine found out. Lets say he didn't do his research.
sbdags
I imported about 4 or 5 cars from Japan. You'll need to factor in shipping agents, import duty, vat, port handling, mot and and Japaneseside fees as well. All up whatever the car costs you in the Japanese Auction, add another 60-70% on. Lets say he didn't do his research. yeah did wonder about that. might be easier just getting the 185 ive been looking at. ss111 badges are on the way tho. just have to find somewhere to stick them on the car she will be up for sale in a couple of weeks anyway cant keep the ss111 and a gt4 as well.her indoors would have a fit I imported about 4 or 5 cars from Japan. LiamGTR
Without looking into it, and knowing nothing about importing cars. I highly doubt you could buy a car and get it to you for £800. I'd call either scam, or somebody is letting you know the full costs. I'd save up for a car you can track the history of here in the UK, don't make things difficult for yourself. sonic
There is a lot of info out there on how and cost Auctions sound great , but after watching brewer in one last week , look like a ruddy nightmare Dealers in Jpn , most likely are going to have the Jpn mot already in place so car will be a lot higher , but will include fob (delivery to ship) If I can recall you have Cost of car Deliver to boat Shipping charges Import duties VAT on the total above !!!! Collection of car Registration Conversion to uk legal spec Sva check Road tax And lots of paracetamol , cigarettes , and wiskey to stop you going mental I will say , fund allowing , it's always something I have wanted to do , cleaner cars , better spec , and rarer cars , but now that the pound is on its arse , and all of the other cost it works out the same , if not dearer to import than to buy a uk car Only other option , is try a uk based import specialist , let them do the shit , , they will sourse your car , buy it , import it , do all the legal and mechincal stuuf , and you just turn up 8 weeks or so later and pick up your new car , but they will stiff you for there services
celicamojo
last year I did contemplate looking to find a mint gen6 in Japan and bring her over here, but the total costs at the time were astronomical and that was before I even found a specific car. One day this will be feasable, but probably more so if importing multiple cars! no-one on here would probably pay the equivalent of £3K for a 6 unless it was a GT4 (except me....) I need to win lottery.......
digs
Question on this, as I have often thought if I end up getting a GT4, wouldn't mind an imported or importing one....my brother lives in japan, speaks Japanese and my sister-in-law is native Japanese her self, if I convinced them to act on my behalf over there do you think this starts to become more doable? Or still not worth the pain and money ?
Devious
Try SVA imports on the Folkestone Rd, Dover Kent. They're good!!!! (FACT) http://www.svaimports.com/
dublet
With the prices of Celicas these days I wouldn't have thought you'd save much money. There's plenty of JDM models for sale for not a lot of money.

sonic
Realistically , unless you are looking for something odd/rare that didn't have a uk version ie , old school skyline etc , then the cost and hassle ain't worth it , there are a lot of good 185s still , I noticed a pukker red gt4oc r/c with nearly every option fitted for 3-3.5 , for that price you would struggle to get any 185 imported
Devious
Honestly you'll be Suprised at what they have on their books bud. Phone them
