Vert rear window motor

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I'm desperately seeking a N/S rear window motor for my beautiful 96 vert. I've trawled the usual channels- eBay, Gumtree, etc. My only success was buying an O/S motor from a breaker in Crawley (£26) through eBay, but he typically only had the one!

I would be eternally grateful if you have any suggestions of where else to try, known Celica parts stockists, etc. I've located a N/S motor on eBay.US, but they want a straight $199 + shipping, and the quote I got from my local Toyota dealership was, wait for it, £300 per motor! I wish I had a spare grand to fix a couple of wee windows, but I ain't.

If only these things had a manual override like the soft-top has...

This is my first Toyota, and after years of driving Audi Cabriolets and BMW sort-tops, I ain't never going back! I love my Celica!

I welcome any suggestions and offer cheers in advance.

You might just have to live with it for a bit. I have, and the person who owned mine before me got used to living with it for a long while. Last year i managed to source a pair of working motors for £80 from one that was breaking on ebay, but they and the roof motors are the first thing to go from breakers so need to be watching out. As far as i know finding one that is breaking is the only way you'll get one at a near reasonable price.

After a couple of years of having one rear stuck in the up position i'm looking forward to getting mine, it is the offside on mine but sorry after the trouble i had finding i need to keep the other one in case that goes

Good luck with finding one, i hope it comes soon for you , awesome cars :)

Cheers guys, I'm on it. Awesome cars Arizona? I've owned loads of soft-tops, but never had such a fun drive! I bought this one in August 12, and since then had a full respray in black pearl, the Momo wheels referb'd and the leather seats professionally reconditioned. There's a stainless twin barrel exhaust underneath that scares the hell out the sedate IOW folk, a chrome and leather Momo steering wheel and matching replacement hand break. Maybe a bit too lairy for a 52 year old, but I'm a die hard petrol-head wideboy Londoner. Ironically, as a Substance Misuse Therapist, friends have dubbed it a 'drug dealers car'....
