Touch-up paint exipry date

Recommended Posts

I have a Toyota Car Care Touch-up set bought a while ago and only just noticed the expiry date is 09/11. Might even have been sold soon-to-expire paint by Mr. T! They only have a shelf life of 2 years looking at the label!

It's never been open but I was going to try it next weekend.

Will it will be fine to use if it still appears ok i.e. not lumpy or something, especially as it is still unopened? I'll have a damaged bumper to try on first also.

I'm still using a Toyota touch up that I bought well over 2 years ago and it is still working fine....maybe they have to cover themselves if anything goes wrong but I wouldn't worry about it.

It's not like you are trying to pain a bonnet with it!

I have found that the base coat usually fairs well but the clear coat can become milky.

I also find it better to apply if you boil the kettle, pour into a coffee cup and place the touch up pencil into the water to heat the paint then shake the pencil like mad.

The heat thins the paint and makes it easier to mix via shaking.

If it is a spray can a god shake for a minute or so will do.
