Can you test ht leads?

My faff has become a little hessitant on acceleration :( I tried changing the plugs but made no difference.

In fact after about 1500 miles on standard coppers it started to drop a little low on tick over even cut out a few times.

I put the old platinums back in and that improved a little.

Was thinking to change the dizzy cap, rotor arm and leads as they all look a little tired.

Thing is i don't wanna throw money at bits if i don't have to, plus got other bits i wanna buy. :D

Cap and rotor arm i don't mind doing for the peace of mind but leads seem a bit pricey :(

So if the leads are letting it down a little how can i tell? or do i just have to put my hand in my pocket AGAIN

Lastly anyone suggest a set of leads?

Can't see how these can fit all revs when caps are different

Just found these, look a good price for Magnecor

The reason they're cheap is cos they're the bottom rung of the ladder 5mm ones.

My blue ones are 8mm (£120 at the time).

To be fair though, mine probably are slight overkill as it's not like I drive a full-on time attack car, is it?

there probably is a reason as to why these don't fit a rev 3 engine but i didn't think there was any difference in the length or connector from rev 2 to rev 3.

Anyways here are some rev 2 8mm ones but i think they might fit.

If someone knows why these wouldn't by all means say

I belive the earlier rev 3sgte's had different conectors on the dizzy caps.

Switched from male to female or something.

in our experience we've encountered not much but problems with magnecores,

on the 205 engines they break down very easily and much quicker than even the OEM HT Leads,

I wouldn't fit them to mine and I didn't, stuck with genuine Toyota

and at

£79.65 + vat

its pretty damn good for genuine from ourselves

Thanks

I've also heard of problems with magnecor.

You can test the resistance of the leads with a multimeter, as avove. Normally when they 'go' it's the result of a break which makes the spark jump an extra gap. What it won't show is if you have leakage through the insulation to nearby metal. You will see this if you lift the bonnet with the engine running as sparks from the leads.

When you re-fit the rotor arm, use loctite (medium strength - nutlock or in my case I use 290 for everything as you can apply it after assembly and it soaks in.). Rotor arms coming loose are quite common.

I had the blue Magnecors on my 205 and it ran beautifully, however i had heard from a few different people after that they didnt rate them on a 205.

I know you on a tight budget fella but dont skimp on ignition stuff,id have the leads from TCB and they will last you too

Edit i read this thread before i saw your updated one about selling up
