Gauges,analogue or digital?

Recommended Posts

that digital oil pressure gauge - i have the vacuum one from that manufacturer, they are that cheap for a reason and it's not a good one LOL

If you are after digital gauges take a look at these, top quality Brittish manufactured items - http://www.spa-uk.co.uk/design/gauges/

i got my oil temp/pressure digi gauge from there - neat bit of kit

fair play, they are a bit pricey but they are pretty good with programmable warning levels, switchable backlight/display colours, units, and they store high/low readings give low voltage warnings etc

the dual display was the reason i went for it - had three things i wanted displayed ( oil temp/pressure and vacuum ) but only had 2 holes to display from . . . . .

gratuitous cabin shot -

Keef I'm loving the gauge pod where dud you get it from and how did u get it looking so seamless.

Zorg, I've considered mounting here but was worried I wouldn't be able to read the gauges from drivers seat. How do u get on?

Have a look at rspec, i bought cheap gauges first, they last less than a year, then i bought these rspec ones, very good quality stepper motor driven gauges at a reasonable price

As for analogue or digital, i always prefer analogue as you can read them at a glance, or at least see if they are approaching dangerous levels at a glance, you would have to actually read the digital gauge and know what was a dangerous level to know if you were approaching it (if that makes sense)

It does indeed make sense, and thanks for the heads up fella ;)

Never had any issues with my 'cheap' gauges from eBay and the temps and boost levels etc all looked spot on when compared to the ones at the dyno, readings were very close.

Stack have a great reputation for gauges/dashes etc and there's a company on eBay selling their 52mm gauges for a reasonable price > http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/jjcraceandrally/m.html?_nkw=stack&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313

Might be worth a look.

I bought the pillar trim from a member on here - dark destroyer I think??, could be wrong - its a custom item with the twin pod bonded and smoothed onto a standard pillar trim, then it's been flocked to give a practically perfect finish.

I had Defi Bf series gauges and they are amongst the best - however for what i paid for 5 gauges i could have had one of these http://www.race-technology.com/dash2_2_31.html for half of what they are new now.

So i sold mine for what i paid - still a bargain as just after i bought em Defi put prices up by 60% - and saved up for a digital dash

Think mine was the easyest instal. Drilled three holes n then clamped them on. I'm gonna relocate the boost gauge on the side pilar n then have a Rotrex oil temp gauge on the console. I get on with it fine. No major issues but I wouldn't mind the gauges facing a bit more to the driver.
