keef-b
I'm not using my car much just now and was thinking one of these small solar panel trickle chargers would be a good way to keep the battery from discharging between runs. Anyone have or used one of these before?
izzzzythedog
i asked previously and got back that they are crap , i think id still buy one although id be more inclined to buy a simple panel and stick a crocodile clip on the end , amporphous are the type of panel you need http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sunshine-Solar-Panel-Amorphous-40-Watt-12-Volt-/350444118071?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item519818e037 like this 1 but not so big they work regardless of it raining or being over cast these buggers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sunshine-Solar-Panel-Amorphous-4-Watt-12-Volt-/260639262121?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item3caf4f85a9 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sunshine-Solar-Panel-Amorphous-5-Watt-12-Volt-/260639262939?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item3caf4f88db

Fat tony
I had one on a previous car, had the panel on a wall, it's got a nice long cable. Worked ok. It's sat in my garage not attached to anything now. I'd loan it to yer if you weren't so far away
Gstraw
where do you put the panel? insidethe car or outside?? any pics?
Fat tony
I used to put it on the dash or on a screw on a south facing wall. Never had any probs with it, kept the fibreglass battery topped up ok. I'll put a photo on when I get 5 mins, if that ever happens!
keef-b
Got myself a little 4w panel, got it suction cupped onto the windscreen with crocodile clips onto the battery terminals. Only time will tell if it keeps the battery sweet - not sure when the car will be used again, just waiting on my new brakes turning up
