Solar powered car battery maintainer . . . . ?

I'm not using my car much just now and was thinking one of these small solar panel trickle chargers would be a good way to keep the battery from discharging between runs.

Anyone have or used one of these before?

i asked previously and got back that they are crap , i think id still buy one although id be more inclined to buy a simple panel and stick a crocodile clip on the end , amporphous are the type of panel you need

they work regardless of it raining or being over cast

I used to put it on the dash or on a screw on a south facing wall. Never had any probs with it, kept the fibreglass battery topped up ok. I'll put a photo on when I get 5 mins, if that ever happens!

Got myself a little 4w panel, got it suction cupped onto the windscreen with crocodile clips onto the battery terminals.

Only time will tell if it keeps the battery sweet - not sure when the car will be used again, just waiting on my new brakes turning up ;)
