Gstraw Posted 29 October 2011 Report Posted 29 October 2011 Hey i got all the stuff i needed and in the space of 10 mins I changed all my indicators- looks great BUT! I was finishing off and came to lock the car and realised that the short flash is literally sooo short you can barely see it! you have to look direct at the car! its because the LED's cut the power short and there is less heating and cooling. so because of this its an absolutely tiny flash and I can't tell quickly if the car is locked or not now. any fixes around this? like any way to increase the time they would stay on? p.s when doing 3 button presses the led flashes for a long time as the previous light did so thats no problem...its just the 2 clicks to get to deadlock thanks
CelicaBen190 Posted 30 October 2011 Report Posted 30 October 2011 Use a small capacitor on each led? Shrug...
Gstraw Posted 2 November 2011 Author Report Posted 2 November 2011 Hmm I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem though? When I put the stock led flasher unit in locking the car is fine and the lights stay on for a length of time but when I indicate it flashes so fast like the bulbs are out Can't win unless u can get the car to make a beep noise when I lock it?
version30 Posted 2 November 2011 Report Posted 2 November 2011 Just change the indicator relay to one that is suitable for leds and filaments http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-FLASHER-FLASH-RELAY-UNIT-LED-BULBS-Dual-Load-/400225499951?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5d2f4c7b2f
Gstraw Posted 2 November 2011 Author Report Posted 2 November 2011 Yeah I done that but it's not keeping the lights on when locking the car
cs2000 Posted 2 November 2011 Report Posted 2 November 2011 Most likely something to do with the new relay. I have bypassed that route and used load resistors (these are like normal resistors but with a major heatsink on it) and my bulbs behave well.
Gstraw Posted 2 November 2011 Author Report Posted 2 November 2011 Any links to what you bought? Thanks
keef-b Posted 2 November 2011 Report Posted 2 November 2011 the relay i got has my indicators working as the did when i had filaments in - the relay came from the states and i've no idea who the seller was.
cs2000 Posted 3 November 2011 Report Posted 3 November 2011 eBay Thats what i have, just 50W load resistors
