Id recommend a big brake upgrade - the GT4 ones wont fit directly onto a non superstrut car however with a bit of work you can get them to fit as people who do the swap to mcpherson set up on 205's get round it with slightly smaller discs ( gt4 has 315mm think they use scooby discs around 300mm )

v6 will give effortless performance with nice torque plus the option to maybe SC in the future

Talk to spot as he might be selling his engine & ECU for the right price

I think you've got to sell that lovely white car you've got if you want a GTfour. Trying to run both would likely swallow all your cash.

Although with the car you currently have I understand how you could really struggle to part with it. It looks really good, not to mension the time that's went into it.

You will always have the photos to look back on though and I think as a Celica nut you may look back in years to come and wish you'd tried out the Top of the range (sorry to anyone who dissagrees).

To me the gen 6 GT4 is the ultimate Celica, and after 4 GTs I knew I had to own one and Im so glad I have the car.

its just if i should take the loan and go for it or not,i dont wanna end up in a really shit place in a years time, with gt4 that needs grand or more off repairs and i already have loan on top,if i got one id have to be 80 percent sure it be ok for while

This tells me its really not a good idea to go down this loan idea route, you know it. Listen to that inner voice thats already telling you

Again i gotta agree with Arizona, listen to yourself.

Inside you know you would cry if the 4 needed for something and you couln't afford it.

After paying of existing loan, that would be so less likely!

On the other, V6 into your beauty. Now that sounds appealing, and different.

As for brakes, i would think drilled and grooved with good pads should be fine, although your 17's would still fit over GT4 calipers.

Must warn you though, my first engine swap was 2.0 pinto from capri into 1.1 escort with drum brakes all round  0-60 was half that of 60-0 :brickwall:

lol thanks i will bear that in mind, the annoy thing is i wanna car that i can continue modding,i dont wanna wait a year before i can start modding again,in other words if i am to sell mine theres no point in doing anymore to it,so would mean a year of no modding lol aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh do you think if i did the v6 swap id get alot of running problems at frist? has anyone seen the xyz big brake kit that fensport do,now that would be ideal lol i know its a grand but looks good, also if i was to sell up how much do you think mine is worth ?

Don't know about the V6 swap, i'm assuming it'll be the lump from a camary as i know thats what they use in the MR2 conversion. Should't get to many running probs as long as the job is done well in the first place. Which looking at your attention to detail B)

As for value of yours? Difficult!

Fact is you can now pick up 205's for £2k, Leaves yours with probably less value than it's cost you. Mileage and history dependant i would guess around £1500.

Lot of car for the money, but then Celica's are.

yer id say around that mark as it has alot of history and also has some rare stuff like the full leather seats and the ss3 rear spoiler and spats both the real things, hard to know what to do really.

quite like the idea of a v6 lump as well, what would be easyer out of the two? as for brakes i have ebc groove and drilled with green stuff pads and same on back would that not be good enough,or do i need bigger calipers? do the gt4 ones fit straight on ?

If you are interested in a v6 conversion mate

You will never get a better deal than to buy mine :o

My package would give you every part that you needed for a complete swop

From engine through to high flow fuel pump

It's a case of swapping over well over£4000 of parts for only £2k

It seems as though a lot of people on this thread (and lots of others)

Seem to think that the 3litre conversion may give a little bit more power than a 2litre but nowhere near the famous gt4

So thought that I should just give you all some info on the power capabilities of the 3litre conversion

Firstly the 3sge engine in a gen 6celica produces 137ft lb of torque

Now that figure is a flywheel figure so when you take out the infinite variable of attaching a car to the engine  At the wheels figure is probably ;) a little lower than that

Compare that to my At The Wheels torque figure of 197ft lb of torque

as you can see by the figures the 3litre produces well over 70 percent more torque than the 3 sge engine!!!

Now in a real world comparison

IF ........

On a private road obviously :)

A very well sorted gt4 went past me with turbo on full chat at 70mph and accelerated to130mph

And I accelerated at the same time the distance between the vehicles stays the same!!

In other words a very well cared for example of a gt4 with a recon hybrid turbo and hks turbo timer pushing out in the region of 300bhp

Will not in any significant way out accelerate a 3litre celica at those speeds

As for reliability these engines ( especially when it has been fully reconditioned ) is bullet proof

And when coupled with a stand alone ecu which was mapped on a Rolling road for over 5hours to produce optimum performance and reliability

There is absolutely nothing to worry about longevity of these engines.

Don't mean to clutter up this thread but from what's been written it seems that a lot of people are blissfully unaware of the performance of these engines and I just thought the subject needed clarification :D

My advise would be to wait, Gonna be plenty of GT4's around for a while yet.

Or do a deal with spotV6 px yours?

He had her running within 2 more days (rough as a bears arse  but she was running  )
