Meathead
what type of sealant is used to seal headlights? when i open mine i want to seal it with the same type of stuff so i can open it with a heatgun and knife again if need be. but i dont know what sealant im after... all i know is its black, quite soft and melts very easily with a heat gun... Chris CW
I used some standard clear sealant, as its only to keep the water out, what was left of the black stuff keeps the light together
InsolentMinx
Halfords sell black sealant in a toothpast-size tube. Was about £4-5 It's what i used.

InsolentMinx
can't remember the name but in my store it was opposite the paint. They only had 1 type. And the toothpase size tube is plenty. I've still got a quarter left and i wasn't shy with it on both headlights. You can't get all the original stuff off, so when you're done, you can put the lights back in the oven to reheat the original sealant and it'll hold the lights tight. Then there's the screws to further hold the 2 pieces together. I just used the sealant to run a nice thick bead along the join to ensure they're sealed. Messy but thorough. ta-da http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_749365_langId_-1_categoryId_165691 or there's also this one http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_173106_langId_-1_categoryId_165691 Edited June 7, 2011 by InsolentMinx
