davetrigz
HI All I am trying to take my lowering springs off the shocks and have a problem, I'm sure it will be a easy solution I'm just too annoyed with it to think straight at the minuet!! So I have mounted the shock on to the car and trying to loosen the top nut, now the problem is when trying to loosen the nut the whole stem of the shock is turning at the same time, Any help would be good as the courier is coming tomorrow to deliver these to Alistair GT Edited January 30, 2011 by davetrigz
CelicaBen190
Dont you take the shock off completly then use spring clamps?
CW Racing
yes i found removing the whole strut and using a rattle gun on the top nut worked best for me.
davetrigz
Dont you take the shock off completly then use spring clamps? Yes but I am trying to get the top mount off and need to crack the nut off slightly first which is easier to do whilst mounted on the car as it's meant to hold the shock in position but the stem is now twisting instead of the whole shock
sonic
could try wrapping a rag around the moving shock and then clamping it with some mole grips (there for not damaging the shaft) and having some one to hold it while you undo the nut worked on my gen

Bumblebee
there is usually either a hex head or a hole for an allen key down the centre of the damper strut so you can hold it to stop it spinning
