Got a compressor on order now too, just the air hose left to order then will have the whole kit.

All I need to do then is test it all works and then wait for warmer weather to crack on with.

Looks a pretty good compressor that should do the job nicely, i stick a cardboard box over the motor temporarily quietens em right down.

Yeah ultra dry s gonna prolly really help maybe blast out with just compressed air before you start.

Im considering drilling a couple of extra strategically placed extra drain holes in mine- good idea dyou think?

The sill covers are easy to remove from what i can remember just 3 bolts, the clips are harder to remove  a tool does help, but i think the covers do go back on a certain way so make a note.

Seems decent this compressor, it looks exactly the same as the one sold under brands like sgs, Clarke, sip etc.

Incase People are wondering the compressor is 50L 3hp cost 165 quid from their eBay shop.

The cavity wax gun looks just like the sealey branded one but at half the price from Amazon, paid 43 quid plus 3 quid extra for the 3 years accidental damage warranty extension thing.

Yeah looks like qu a good compressor that mines similar tbh they all seem to look fairly generic but dont know how they differ in quality but that looks a good un.

And your gun looks a good one, in fact ive just bought a sandblaster that looks v similar to that to do the samejob cos the paraffin gun that came with my cheap compressor kit fell to bits, u mite even be able to sand/soda blast any rust away easy with it first too.

Did the waxing on the wife's Aygo today. Used the hand application tool thingy that comes with the sprayer. The cavity wax injection wand wasn't working it just pushes out air and no product. Not sure why will need to read up about it.

Used about 1.5litres of the wax and that was being very liberal practically flooded it inside the sills and chassis rails. Will do Celica next weekend if weather holds up.

Surprised at how much coverage 1 bottle gives, it's loads, started spraying the underside too since I had so much left over in the pot.

Had sill covers off today and am happy there are no nasty surprises under there. Overall very clean, use a brush you get with a dust pan to clean off some dirty areas and there was some mud in the side skirts that got cleaned out and wiped down so it's tidy. The pinch weld had little bit of surface rust in some areas but quick blast with a poly carbonate wheel on the drill and a coat of zinc primer took care of that.

In 2 weeks time will get the sill covers off again and get to work with the cavity waxing. Today was to just take a look incase repair work would be needed so glad it ended early.

The holes where the push clips go under the sill I thought were rusty but turned it was cavity wax which leaked down around the hole area when I last waxed with aerosol cans.

Will need to get car a bit higher up so will jack it up and get some blocks or something under the wheels.

One of the push clips that hold the sill on door side is broke it's white in colour. Anyone know where to get cheaper replacement than Mr t?

got a video uploaded of one size, other side is similar in condition, iv just cleaned them and put the covers back on, not sure if i should give them a wax coating or paint?

Finally got the car waxed up. Flooded the sills and box sections along with chassis rails and other nooks and crannies with the cavity wax. Hopefully this prolongs the life of the car

Incase anyone is wondering the 50L 3hp air compressor was plenty for this job, it didn't even cycle much. I suspect a 25L compressor would also be up for the job

Sounds like youve done a good job there, your sills look immaculate for the age, have you done much to them before and if so what cos it defo seems to have worked?

Re: those white clips are all over the celica if u wanna swap any out in places ive used universal ebay packs which seemed to work almost as well in past.

Nothing done to sills in the past never had the side skirts off before. Hopefully car should be well rust proof for the future now

Yeah sounds like its a good solid example i dont think its too hard to keep these rustfree at bay key is i think to just know the few areas to pre-empt in the firstplace.

Your sills are amazing ive yet to take my covers off yet but am hoping for something similar obviously.

I dont think a bit of rust on the outer sills would be too bad to treat, its just if it was the full sill or inner sill probably.

FYI theres a spot above the sills in the door jamb/pillars that can go rusty ive noticed possibly more on the sunroof models?

I think it could be treated thro the door open/shut sensors.

OR am contemplating maybe drilling a couple of extra access/drain holes in certain places, have you or anyone got any experience or opinions on whether this is a good idea or not?

Best not to drill any extra holes, there are plenty openings available for getting a wax probe in.

This stuff I bought seems to be decent, I sprayed some on top of the rust on the battery tray in my fiesta and can see the rust turn blackish under the coating so it looks to have some sort of rust converter in it too. For the price i find it to be ideal since it's easier to spray this with it's thinner wand into the door drain holes and other tight gaps the bigger compressor powered gun can't get into.

Iv also seen on 1 Celica a massive hole where the door slam is at the bottom below where the label is that shows tyre pressure rating etc, not sure how it got a rust hole in that area.

Also this reminds me to sort out the sunroof too and give that a coating of wax on it as well

And finally got the front arches and wheel wells finished today.

Got the archliners off and cleaned everything up surprisingly no rust. Sprayed on the wax and job done, used harder wax compound than the inner cavity stuff which dries to a hard candle wax sort of coating which I can't even get off with a pressure washer and 40degree nozzle at point blank so should hold up well. Will see how it fairs over the next few years
