  1. a brief but useful read http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Brake_fluid
  2. Theres a subte one that I think Mook did, which is some weird clear stuff that looks almost invisible in broad daylight, maybe a slight ghost effect, but when its lit up it reflects an almost gold colour...looked awesome on a black car I saw it on.
  3. Nice. a near perfect transport combination...better if it was an ST205
  4. Yep...Its all to do with major diameters and minor diameters. You also have to take into consideration the thread pitch as Toyota thread sizes arnt always a standard metric pitch. theres a mix of metric course & metric fine. Major diameter on a bolt is the peak of the threads, the minor being the troughs....a bolt hole when drilling a hole to suit, needs to match the minor diameter or there would be nowhere for the thread to go. For things like the under trays, there are some self tapping bolts used which from the dealers are quite expensive, I picked up a bag of 200 self tapping bolts the same as Toyota for about £5 from an auto jumble, the thread pitch on these isnt critical as they will cut there own thread, (They usually bolt into a plastic but they do need to be the right diameter so they have enough grip...too small and they will drop out, too big and they split the thing they are tapping in to.
  5. Although it looks nice, as with all modern cars, it will be bristling with electronic aids that are ready to take over at a nano seconds notice and will more then likely be a detatched, remote driving experience enough to put to sleep even the most ardent Celica fanatic.....makes me tired just looking at it. Remove the electronic aids, 4WD it with at least 300BHP and I might be interested.....modern cars suck
  6. Chances are that the paint has half dried in the air on its way over and wont have bonded to your car very well, a T-Cut will probably remove most if not all of the paint, Baby wipes...yes baby wipes are good as well for removing it off the plastics etc (Tescos own brand are the best)
  7. and there was I just this very morning thinking what this Celica club needs is more Ford Fiestas.....low and behold my prayers were answered.
  8. Those guys used to supply springs to proflex who made suspension for the TTE Celicas
  9. Not going to advise you which way to go, but GT4s are cheap right now...I can see the price dropping further for a year or two (I think we'll see £1000 ST205s before long), then, they'll get bought by boy racers, not get looked after correctly and end up being scrapped (and many are getting bought by breakers) a lot will meet their demise either way, then I think they may start becoming more collectable and the prices will go up in a big hurry......so IMO, no rush right now, there will be GT4s around for a long time yet at affordable prices. If I were you I.d do a 3sgte swap into yours as it looks very nice...be faster than a GT4 then and you can do that a bit at a time over a few years
  10. I think thats nothing more than a pile of semi mobile scrap....not worth £2000 in a million years....unless theres £2000 in the glovebox
  11. If you do want snow tyres, Verdistein Snowtrac 3s are awesome and drive well when there is no snow. In the UK snow chains armt really a good idea as when there is no snow they can be damaging to the car and the road. Snow socks are OK to get you out of a hole, but last about 2 mins. All I did last year was carry a shovel and a bag of sharp sand in the boot....When its that bad its an excuse to have a day off work :-)
  12. An alternative...got yourself onto the Rally forums and pic up a set of used Forrest tyres or gravel tyres.....they should be OK in the snow...usable on the roads and cheap to buy. Just make sure they are road legal as some arnt.
  13. Used to do about 600 miles a week in the Faff. Less than 3000 a year now
  14. In a situation like that, what do you do about registration docs???? and I hope ha has all the keys too or it could be a very static collection.
  15. Plain old Copper core plugs. Iridium plugs are so hit and miss when it comes to GT4s so best avoided. Platinums would be my second choice... Over the years I have forked out a fortune on all sorts on fancy spark plugs....Platinums, iridiums even those silver jobbies a multitude of heat ranges and plug gaps......from a drivers point of view the £8 a set Champion copper plugs from Halfords are just the same..in fact slightly better in some respects as I dont get the slight flat spot at 3000rpm that I had with the iridiums and to a lesser extent the platinums. Admittedly they dont last as long but for that price who cares. Give the cheap copper plugs a try and its a safe bet you wont be disapointed...more money left to spend on petrol then enjoying the autumn sunshine and country roads.
  16. The only real solution is to get it cut out or if its surface rust then grind back to clean metal, or if you visit www.frost.co.uk they have a few chemicals that claim to stop rust in its tracks but I doubt its long term effectiveness. I thought I could beat rust with chemicals and now a few years later the shell about to be replaced.
