  1. U kno whn the engine is running .... ...u stopped, leave it runnin in idle in neutral gear as u wait for someone... Thn whn u decide to leave....u forgot the engine was runnin and turn the key to get this grindin noise from the engine? Well i got tht grinding noise this mornin as i startup the car?!!!! I stopped turning. Restart the car and it was fine. Just wondering if i hav anythin to worry abt or tht grindin noise at 1st startup is a sympton of anythin?
  2. Another fine example of wot length members, like yourself Shaun, do for others. Wud be great if Andrew can confirm the discount is still available.
  3. I bought a 1/2 cover one (but full cover are also available). Cant remember the supplier - bt can dig out if anyone wants it. Its multi-layer and waterproof (had it opened on an outside airer)...nx morning it held a bucket of water with the underside completely dry. But its pricey....my 1/2 cover alone cost £60. Its well worth it and been tested for several months now.
  4. Niiiiice un halek! Forgotton abt the convenience of the armrest storage area! Nice pioneer too! I think i wud like to add one to my armrest too now!
  5. Cheers Mr Rizla! Plan is whn i rip out all the internal stereo cables/speakers including the cntral console for dash + gearstick.... ....i will put in new stereo/speakers/cables/ciggie lighter + usb socket in glove compartment.
  6. Nah mate - mine just a crappy single din old stereo. But yes my new stereo wud hav a usb socket + i also hav a usb socket tht plugs into ciggie lighter. I just want an extra usb socket in the glove compartment so i can charge a tablet/2nd-mobile etc in a safe place out of the way and out of prying eyes whn i go on long trips etc :-)
  7. Whats the best way to add an USB socket in the glove compartment? Split from ciggie lighter power source or a separate fuse one? Pics will be great! Thks!
  8. Thks! Gud to know.....think Derren did mentioned it or was it Rich?...
  9. Cheers mate. For now i am just gonna leave it up to whichever garage is goin to do the work. So best for thm to source the parts... But thks for the offer.
  10. I thk thts a good idea too. Shaun also mentioned i can add an additional coldfeed from under my battery = 2 coldfeeds :-) Thks!
  11. Hav thought abt that.....does it mean it will suck in less air since enclosed? Interestin....i thought the bog standard airbox would b best for performance (bottom to mid rev)... ...but cone better with top rev (if had cold feed)? Maybe...but tht garage put me right off! So mayb he was completely wrong! Does an enclosed cone-filter does a better job thn: 1. Semi-enclosed cone filter 2. Heat shield around exposed cone filter?
  12. Thks Derren. It does seem the stock airbox is best, but I just love my cone filter sound - so the only option is I may go for the coldfeed - possibly move the location.....
  13. Thks guys - I will need to think about it - I do think adding a coldfeed should make a difference - not sure if moving the conefilter will make a massive diff since still inside the engine compartment.....
  14. My cone filter is right nx to engine and i hav no cold feed. I took it to a garage today and was told it makes absolutely no difference to my car.. ..unless it has a turbo. So does anyone has any experience thy do?
  15. Any pics to how us exactly wot they look like? oh, OK - just seen the pic appeared - nice...... u think those alloy gaitors better than tyres that protrude to protect the rims (like F1 Eagles)?
  16. Woo-hoo! U kno it makes sense, rich! Time for another celebration dance!
  17. How about the Toyota Prius (though only really economical if driven around town - which is almost FREE)?
  18. Car share! CCUK Car Pool Car....in the area? Thn rent my car for a few hours/days...lol
  19. +1  But, Rich u quite right, it requires long-term commitment - since u need to recover the initial conversion. Although if u are lucky to find a RARE Celica already converted - then I would argue that it does better saving than a diesel. Even in the winter at -5degrees- my LPG car would switch over to gas in less than a mile. With LPG near me at 65p - its hard not to imagine the savings. Else....one of these (not sure of MPG though)..which 'u' I was contemplating myself
  20. I understand, mate! I am really appreciate your input - this is why this is a great forum - all the members here are very very helpful I would love to take those speakers off u - but I am really rubbish at DIY (took me 4hrs to put up a shelf !!!) so less work means less problems and less money required. Certainly do NOT want a external amp - read they are pricey as well as needing to find somewhere to fix to and checking enough power for it as well. I totally understand where u are coming from, but there is no way I can find the money or justify £1000. Maybe if I bought a £500+ touchscreen satnav - which I initially wanted, but as money was needed elsewhere, I have now bought a £70 Alpine instead this: So, pls keep inputting into this thread, the more replies I get, the more informed decision I can make
