  2. tbh not sure on the gen7 if you have to disarm the alarm in a sequence to have it completely disarmed, as it sets itself after a period of being locked i believe .
  3. ty hehe...yer he did as he pointed out mine was all wrong also
  4. can't comment on london or any other major city with the congestion they have & i'm sure that motor cyclists get plenty of stick for filtering & in some cases rightly so i'm sure. & as to the 130mph + also agree,it is the very reason i don't have a bike anymore,it was becoming impossible to justify having a big sports bike on the road bearing in mind that nowadays with their race pedigree they don't work well unless ridden hard.(not an excuse just a fact) But as you say there are far more cars on the road & a pretty high percentage driving along adjusting their stereo, answering phone calls texting people, reading texts & generally ignorant of anything around them other that whats 20ft in front of them.( in some cases not even sure of that) Not saying that bikers are Innocent & in many cases are their own worse enemies, but i can pretty much guarantee that when they are riding, especially at speed, they are concentrating on nothing other riding & watching for potential hazards. so still standby my opinion its the person not the mode of transport aslo while i think on it have seen alot more stupid stuff ie: aggressive driving, tailgating, silly overtakes etc since having my celica seems to bring out the worse in some peeps strangely enough seems to have been more bmw's than anything else weird:S
  5. rather sweeping statement ...is this just the 1's at the cafe or bikers in general? have seen ridiculous driving & riding whist being out on the road be it either when riding or driving...not sure its the transport the "knobs" are using, if you are the type of person that has no regard for other road users & can't see potential dangers then you are an accident waiting to happen whether on 2 wheels or in 4
  6. twas myself but is very simple otherwise how could i do it with my limited intelligence hehe feel free to pm me if you want instructions to save spamming up the thread just a case of taking center console out to access the module & adjust as required
  7. Bugger although are very nice to start with
  8. hmm does it not have a factory fitted alarm & immobilizer ? thought all came with 1 as standard
  9. there is a metal what looks like a large nut on the very end of the cig lighter undo that & it will just fall out no twisting required well i suppose you must twist the nut oh err missus....lol
  10. oopsy my bad it is indeed must remember to engage brain when just woken up from nights hehe
  11. morrisons 99 ron fuel ( higher octane like v power) I tend to it at about 3 tanks to every tank of V -power as the shell v power possibly has more cleaning additives, no idea if thats the case just like to think it does
  12. palace the inside gets done on a regular basis as & when i feel it needs which tends to be alot...lol don't do it everytime i wash the outside as i do sometimes wash the car at weird times if i see she is dirty....
  13. darn it gonna have to buy alot more micro-fibers to fill up the orange 1 or it will look half full & thats no good...hehe
  14. lol i use 1 of the large blue containers the council kindly donated couldn't figure what they should be used for so seemed a nice & large enough for everything thinking about it they have given me 3 of differing colours wonder what else i can put them to use for ?
  15. indeed you can still fit a push button you just can't remove your ignition / steering lock, so you have to put in the key turn it all but 1 notch to then stop & push a button so seems a bit pointless, but would have looked more into removing it all together & installing a switched ignition & push button but that will soon be a failed MOT
  16. just done a little digging & is not a requirement atm but will be Jan 1st 2012 Section 2.1 – Steering Control The law requires vehicles to be fitted with some sort of anti-theft mechanism to provide minimum security protection. Commonly this is achieved by the fitment of steering locks, transmission locks, or gearshift locks. For testing purposes, the Directive only concerns itself with steering locks, and a check on the presence and operation of the steering lock mechanism, where one was fitted as standard, has therefore been added to this Section. Testers are required to check that the mechanism doesn’t inadvertently engage, but this is effectively already carried out during the ‘lock to lock’ check. However, to check that the steering lock operates as intended, it will generally be necessary to remove the ignition key and turn the steering wheel sufficiently to engage the lock. seems the law is screwing us again you can have as many anti theft devices as you like but if you remove your fitted as standard steering lock you will fail as of next year so that little mod is now not worth doing bugger my slow typing lol
  17. hmm you sure Rich i got a stolen recovered cavalier many moons ago & i never replaced the ignition/ steering lock assembly, just wired in an switch to bring on the ignition in 1 of the blank switch areas ( used the same switch from a breakers as the heated seats that where not fitted) & a hidden push button to start & it passed 2 mots with no probs, as far as i'm aware there is no requirement for a steering lock its your choice as to how secure you want your car to be Also this mod/money saver also saved my car from joy riders as it was broken & steering plastics busted off & then left i can only assume they where confused when there was no ignition wiring to screw driver to start it...lol I guess the way to do it would be similar in the celica ( i have considered it) remove the ignition/steering lock completely , have a switched ignition & push the button to start, you could maybe do it on a timer relay to be doubly safe so that the starter would only engage for a set amount of time from the doors being unlocked ie unlocking the doors switches the timed relay for say 10 secs which gives power to the starter trigger wire for same time ( have to complete the circuit with the push button to start) Am unsure as to how the immobilizer works does it have to be in the ignition? or near it?
  18. like the look of them didn't like the fiddly messing about closing them on the 1's i saw/tried out was more of a pull down to the correct hieght them carefully push or pull if inside to close,i was worried about bashing the sill or rear shut line , was a shame coz they looked brill
  19. thx for that will have to try get to a meeting & "introduce myself"...hehe am beginning to think the street light outside my house is not such a bad thing anymore.....

  21. glad the leather is to your liking ..& shiny beads of water do look nice but not once they have dried with dust & dirt all in them hence the late cleaning lol yup its a tad concerning agreed but it just looked so bad..so it had to be done
  22. i thought you could remove the outer layer that gets scratched & cracked using a scraper the 1's that take a stanley knife blade ( i assume carefully) & then plastic polish the moonroof? the same way as you refurb plastic headlights havn't done it myself but plan to over the winter.
  23. Oki i think i may be losing it & i'm sure my neighbors are convinced i have, the reason being i have just had to wash the car at 18:50 in the dark & just started to rain, but i pulled up outside my house which has a street light outside & it had been raining today at work & very windy/dusty & the car was filthy. Now i had spent around 3-4 hrs cleaning her yesterday foamed, rinsed, cleaned, clay bar, polished, waxed & sealed & just couldn't leave her in that state i would have never settled for the night. Now i'm thinking i must be nuts anybody else have the same affliction ?
  24. tbh i would have said 5k to be optimistic, i know its not what any of us want to hear but parkers has a 03/53 t-sport as Original Price £21,000 Independent Dealer £3,765 Private Good £3,290 Private Poor £2,595 Part Exchange £2,740 now thats with average mileage 80k, more than your's i know but anybody who has done their homework should know the 190 engines are pretty much bullet proof so long as serviced etc so high miles aren't really an issue, sure low miles will add value, just not so much as you may think. so 3.5 trade in against a 6k car seems about right.
  25. to remove the head unit you need to remove the center console, nice easy job 1st remove the trim facia around the gear shift & electric window buttons, if you lift it from the back where the buttons are as there are some tabs that locate it behind the air flow controls, once that is removed yo will see a couple of cross head screws that hold the center facia in place remove those, & then that whole facia will lift off again if you lift from where the screws where & up towards the clock it seemed to work best for me, remember to disconect the wiring for the air flow control unit & the clock. You will then see 4 10mm headed bolts remove those to release the unit as there is no cage the unit slides into it will become apparent once you have the unit out & in true haynes manual fashion you just reverse the process to put it all back together its not a long job should take you an hr being careful & 1/2 hr once you done it a couple of times hehe
