  1. Just did a quick Google and they are classed as "driving lights" - so dodging the fog-light bullet but they still look like fogs albeit not quite as bright (but certainly noticeable in daylight!) haha.
  2. I just thought of it and I'm not allowed to make personal calls at work Will give them a buzz when at home to find out, and will update here. Yeah I lurve me some Nightbreakers - already got the whole kit at home (full beams, dipped beams and fog lights) Just need the car now On the Fiat 500 my mum has (and others I see on the road) you can't turn the fog lights off They are always on lol. You turn the little stalk switch to turn the sidelights/dipped beams on and off but the fogs are always on - apparently it's designed that way!
  3. When I get my T Sport I'm gonna sell on my HIDs and stick with Osram Nightbreakers Gonna stay on the safe side of things with that motor. General question; I have my HIDs declared with SKY Insurance but they've not said anything about them being illegal on my car. Do you think I'd encounter issues if I had to claim through them then?
  4. I have 6000k HIDs and they are SO much better than standard halogen bulbs. I have no issues with seeing where I go at night and I have only been flashed once by someone. Police haven't pulled me for them either even though I drove behind a copper for a number of miles - just manually level the lights so the beams aren't reflecting off their side mirrors. I think I have my headlight "level" at 3 or 4. I personally wouldn't go for 4300k HIDs as I am more than happy with my 6000's - the white colour (with a very mild twang of blue) looks awesome. Plus I can see for miles lol. Got mine off londoncolour on eBay for around £45 delivered. Bought the bulb holders too. Oddly enough I dont have the "UFOs" that others have got either :/ Ah well - secret bonus ftw!
  5. Ah quick work, good luck on landing a new job - money worries are never fun!
  6. The CAB is a "Citizens Advice Bureau" - they offer professional assistance for stuff like this Try googling for your local CAB and get an appointment to see someone as soon as possible.
  7. Where are you guys getting these low prices from?? I've been quoted an average of £400 for paint shops near me, and that is JUST for the driver's side door (paint & blend) The best quote I've had so far is from a dude that shocks knows, way down near him for £150. I live in paint shop con central.
  8. Wow thats dome excellent advice mate, thanks. I'm definitely gonna try eBay as a classified then. If I can't sell it after a month then I'll part ex is for a 190 instead for a good price. I don't mind part exing over selling privately but I can get some more dosh that way lol. I plan to list it in September. My new work is a brisk walk away from the train station so I don't mind being without a car for a week or so (my girlfriend and parents have cars that can take me to see t sports - or give roryk a call! ) Yeah I'm looking forward to it! Hoody01 took me for a ride in his GT and lift was awesome (when his motor was hot enough lol)
  9. Cheers MYK but I'm not lookng to buy just yet. It'll be after I pass my probation period, so in four months time! (just started working my notice) I like being prepared far in advance haha.
  10. Nice one, thanks matey Omg I didn't even think of test drives lol. Thanks for that though, I'll be sure to check they have them prior to giving it a drive. It'll be weird sitting in the passenger seat of my car when it's being driven
  11. Thanks guys - it was a pretty obvious question lol but I thought best to ask. I'll see what luck eBay does for me first, then will go locally (but will have "For sale" signs in my motor in the meantime). Excellent, nice one When I come to viewing some I'll PM you and we can go check some out. I know some of the things to check but you'll obviously know more from owning one.
  12. First off, sorry if it's the wrong topic! As some of you 7'ers may know, I am gonna be getting a 190 in the next few months. I have also been offered a new job, so that makes the 190-ness even more sweeter My question is this; I want to sell my 140 privately to get the most money but I am curious as to how I'd go about doing this. Ok that wasn't really a question, more of a statement which will inevitably provoke a response. What are the things I need to do to successfully sell my car privately? I know to advertise on Piston Heads, Autotrader, eBay, CCUK (would prefer if it was a club member - would be looked after then!). Would I advertise on all of them at once, or try two places first them chuck it on eBay as a last resort? Additionally, what paperwork do I need? And what's the process of transferring the details of my car over to the new owner once cash had been traded for my 140? Thanks in advance
  13. Lol fair enough. I've seen some websites which show you how to polish stuff like that and it takes aaaages! A few days at least. But it looks the nuts after so is definitely worth it. After sanding and polishing it all up, do you just touch up with a quick wash and polish every other week or so after like you would your car's exterior?
  14. On the topic of machine polishers, would you be able to use that eBay one linked above to polish up the rocker cover and inlet manifold on a 190's engine? Obviously you'd have to change the head from a soft polisher to a sander or something to start with. Just wondering, could be a good investment for me (as I do love the look of silver shineys under the bonnet!)
  15. I might buy that rotary. Have been pondering the idea of machinine polishing my car to make it look spanking GAWJUS
  16. Once 0-60 times on straights get boring then we'll definitely be working on 0-60's up hills Someone's sig on here says something like; "BHP is how hard you hit the wall, Torque is how much of the wall you take with you"
  17. So if you had a car that ran 100bhp but like 10lbs of torque, you'd be wheel-spinning like crazy when trying to drive off? And if you had a car that had 10bhp but 100lbs of torque, you'd set off really slowly but would still be able to pull a trailer?? (like a tractor!)
  18. yup, well done mate! FYI this has also been posted in the General Discussion sub-forum
  19. haha, "VTEC my ride"! Surely a Celica with a VTEC engine would kill itself in shame.
  20. when i put a 32mm grommet in the rear wiper hole it didn't sit flush and ended up being 'domed' - if that makes sense? It was secure in there (a b!tch to get out ) but cos it wasn't sitting flushed I didn't like it, so sanded that bad boy down a little. However, 30mm metal plug on the way so I'll let you know how that turns on in mah mod thread Back on topic, if you've only been pulled once I would be tempted to keep the stickers on. However, if the cops are local and spot you again then you'll probably get in more trouble since they've pulled you over for the same thing twice. better safe then sorry, unfortunately it seems you were just unlucky and got pulled over by two very bored cops.
  21. Exactly, make them go quicker so the cops pull them instead of you
  22. It does look good on its own. Maybe replace the finger with the 'normal' shocker symbol? That way its not as obviously offensive as flipping people the bird
  23. 30mm grommets seem hard to come by. Halfords only do up to 25mm. Your best bet is to get a 32mm and use some sandpaper to file down the inner rim so that it's 30mm in diameter. I bought a pack of 10 from eBay for like £3 lol. I had some spare paint from repairing my door, so I colour matched it myself Link to 32mm grommets Saying that, some yob has robbed the plastic grommet off my car the other day (since it just pops in place), so I've just ordered a 30mm metal one and will be painting that black, too; Clink It secures via a small nut from the underside, so I'd like to see the bugger rob this one off me I hope this helps!
  24. you can stick a 30mm rubber blanking grommet in it
