  4. I see Neilw has done a little law, he is right of course, not a lot to bring a case and like he says easier to prove as circumstantial evidence is taken into account, BUT even if a civil court finds in your favour and she has to pay compensation, you still got to try to get the money off her, unlike a criminal court where fines are enforced, civil courts aren't, so could take a while to get your money back, as she will be unemployed and will plead poverty to the court, at 5p a week it will take a while to pay you back. But good luck with whatever you do mate .... I do have a few female friends willing to pay a visit of course LOL
  5. Thanks that was really helpful explains what i needed to know about the buttons. Thanks again Dave
  6. Hey Guys, Just bought a 1995 gen 6 GT(thats the 3rd celica i bought) its in an ok condition ... but its an automatic, it has the 3S-FE engine i think but its the gearbox that has me confused, the drive/reverse bit i understand even the overdrive button but the buttons around the lever i aint sure about .... plus its a bit of a quandry cos its a GT. 2ltr pre face lift chassis with facelift body kit, spoiler lights etc but not the airbag etc ....very confused lol can anybody tell me what the flippin buttons do .... especially the little red one with jap writing under it???????? thanks Dave
  7. Hey guys i found a place that sells workshop Manuals for our beloved Gen 6,(not Haynes, i think they are American company called Collins, but i may have the name wrong)unfortunately it only covers the US import but crucialy covers the uk ST version with the 7AFE engine here is the link to their website, plus they do lots of stuff for the Celica range all mail order. (I do not work for this company and have no financial stake in any orders taken) I just like to help out Members. car Parts Direct Thanks guys Dave
  8. Wahoo! Sorted it! .... found the fuse that turned the flasher, siren and elecronic inhibitetor, then removed the cable group that entered the control boxes fo the alarm/immobiliser .... hey presto car starts first time .. Just need to check everything works before I reassemble the glovebox and trim.
  9. well tried that and not working .... gettin pissed off now ... i have taken glove box out and i think i found the control unit for the alarm ... i pulled a fuse that has stopped the lights flashing and lets me turn the engine over but it still won't start .... it either stops the power to coil or fuelpump so stuck now .... could do with knowing which other fuse disables this function or which wire to cut.... any ideas?
  10. Thanks for the quick reply but that solution is for the facelift model with the teardrop remote. Dave You need to do this. 1. Disconnect negative battery terminal 2. Turn key in ignition to acc 3 position i.e so dash would light up if battery was connected 3. Wait till at least 30 seconds has elapsed since disconnecting the battery then reconnect the negative terminal. 4. Once reconnected press and hold both alarm buttons till the indicators flash. thanks will try this now
  11. Hey guys just changed battery on my prefacelift Gen6 and the alarm/immobiliser won't reset ... i tried all the solutions i could find on here and nothing works ..... the keyfob is a little black box with a red button on the left and black on the right any ideas .... i could really use the help guys as i need the car back ASAP and aint got a clue what to do
  12. thats what i thought ..... Wales hmmm!!! it was a Polish guy i bought it off too so lucky the bugger runs in the first place tbh .... ....
  13. yeah only £400, it was a sunday that i picked it up ... no garages open lol and i had asked the seller if the tyres were ok to drive on ... if they hadn't been i had a full set of legal tyres i could have taken and tbh i should have!
  14. hey no need to tell me the consequenses i am a truck driver lol if i had known it needed the tyres changing i would have taken the ones of my st and you are right about the widths was having a blonde moment. the drive back was VERY exciting, a 200 mile skidpan! TBH i not sure how the hell thay managed to get ALL 4 tyres in such a bad state they were all equally worn .... unbelievable! on a GT4 i could understand but on a FWD car !!!!! but its only illegal if you get caught, (my dad told me that) its all sorted now a totally legal car back on the road for less than £600 not too shabby in my book and when i finished with her she will be stunning!
  15. Here's the pics of my car i bought in wales 3 weeks ago, I spoke to the lady seller she told me needed 2 new tyres prior to completeing the sale, when i got there all 4 were well and truly BALD in fact both canvas and steel wire showing through ... the weather was attrocious on the way back so i ended up sliding back to Derby as opposed the driving back lol see if you can see the canvas etc in the pics .... i couldn't, and the lady assured me they were "scrubbed" luckily my old ST had decent 16" momo alloys with good tyres so swapped to them till i get new tyres for the 17" alloys in the pics, the momo's are 50 wide where as the OZ are only 40's not sure which are better for road holding, the OZ are prettier i think! I plan to tidy the engine bay (i will post pics with before and after shots) and give her a really good clean and polish then i post more pics. Dave
  16. hey guys lets not forget they are AMERICANS ..... tbh what did you expect ..... Hmmm I wonder if he sued the local authorities cos of the damage to his car!!
  17. Wahoo it finally passed its MOT ... changed the rear shocks from my old st .... also had to change both rear brake calipers as the mechanic broke one when taking it of the gt (to be honest was knackered anyway) but came of the st with no probs .... lights as i said in last post needed adjusting with the load adjuster .... cv boot was easy peasy hardest thing was the bloody number plate bulb as the screws were well and truly rusted ... and my garage replaced the all the brake lines for £95 so all in all not bad for £140 all together (not sure why he charged ME extra for HIM braking the bloody caliper tho) Dave
  18. Its the rear shocks i need to change from the st to the gt, not the brakes, and they are the same size etc so no probs ... and the mot tester didn't use the load adjuster cos he couldn't find it rofl he didn't ask me! as to the binding brake i agree i think it is the hand brake sticking! so when i change the rear suspension i will dismantle the handbrake assembly and give it a good service .... well! a good clean and lubricate lol and as too "a few pounds" for the cv boot ..... 25 quid .... not exactly a few pounds ..... bloody extortionate i call it for a bit of rubber!!!
  19. too be honest i only want to get it through its mot, i plan a major refurb throughout the whole car in the summer (its too bloody cold at the moment) so a quick cheap alternative to the cv boot i think is the plan lol its the split type but i got 10 days to do the work and the weather looks to be closing in again and as i don't have a garage it needs to be quick fixes. but i do take on board what you say and thanks
  20. Just taken my new gen6 gt for its MOT .... i only bought it last saturday to replace my dead gen6 st bought it off ebay for £400 so i knew it would have a couple of problems but being quite handy figured it wouldn't be too bad ... so here's the list, n/s cv boot split rear brake pipes excesively corroded n/s rear wheel binding (brakes) licence plate light not working o/s rear shock absorber leaking excesively dipped beam too low (both sides) Luckily i still got my old st parked so can replace some of the bits from that so rear shocks and any bulbs from that. brakes i gonna leave to my garage (£45) the binding wheel is cos i think it was left standing for a couple of months so a quick strip and clean and a shot of wd40 in the right place will sort that out and the dipped beam i already sorted by useing the light adjuster in the car lol. my main problem is the cv boot... i just checked my local parts dealer and he has a universal boot kit which (http://www.carparts-direct.co.uk/?i=262289) as you can see doesn't need the whole lot taking apart, now it says its MOT legal .... but is it????? any ideas guys Dave
