  1. No it shouldnt start in anything other than park anyway, running it up and down and then back to park was what used to make it work but it sounds like its the starter is knackered then Nix will likely have one
  2. You sure its the starter? Reason i ask is that i had an auto once, not a celica but it did the same thing and it was a sensor that had failed, which made it think that the car was in drive and therefore wouldnt start - i'm pretty sure it made the same clicking noise as you describe Before it failed completely it would do this and if i moved the shift up and down from park to drive and back a couple or so times it would fix itself then i had the sensor on the gearbox removed as it was a pain, just meant that it lost the safety thing of not being able to be started in drive
  3. Tried giving the starter a tap with a hammer? Dont think you should be bumping an auto but not 100% on that
  4. Good tip, saved that - in my short experience of gen 5's everything you want to do...............
  5. Can you hammer on a 13mm socket to get it off? Trouble is now you're going to need another any of this useful? http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/136319-help-bolt-rounded-off/page__fromsearch__1
  6. Take a look at feeback for any that contact you is my only tip really. I have used it before to get a car from up north down to southeast and saved us loads. They are usually otherwise coming back empty from a trip so it can be a good way to get things moved. The guy who did mine was a gem
  7. that is some good news, i thought it might be 800 tops
  8. There you go, make it yours with the things you want to do with it and put the pics up
  9. What extra parts have you got then? Your's isnt really stock now with the interior so maybe carry on? There was two of us at Ace , gen6gt is the username of the other one but he hasnt been online here for a while. No not doing Japfest, sorry
  10. Thankyou Be interested to hear how you get on with windows, it's not top of my list at the mo but would like to get mine fixed for this summer. All i have heard is that they are a pain in the a*se
  11. I havent looked re window motor, i have a problem with mine too, slow on one side and not working at all the other side. It may not be motor dying but that it is sticking and causing the motor to struggle. Would advise not using that until its been looked at or you may damage the motor As to the roof, here may be worth contacting http://www.bristolsunroofs.co.uk/softrepair.php
  12. Just been out to have a look, that's not a bag its part of the trim its fixed at the sides etc yes?
  13. Yes there will So they can see you not just some nutter
  14. Think you might just end up more confused if looking at the benz forum, maybe just try the question of what do you use on st162.net?
  15. Found this.......... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cabriolet-hood-Soft-top-oil-hydraulic-fluid-pump-softtop-vehicle-150ml-bottle-/220982239703?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item33739161d7 but yes st162.net was the one i was thinking of
  16. Would of thought manually wouldnt hurt (apart from you ) seems a strange one to me that it would be engine oil, surely would need to be hydraulic fluid of some sort but i'm only guessing Was there another forum i saw mentioned where there might be more gen 4 verts?
  17. Dont operate it without fluid in in case you damage the pump, i dont know whether it will but i wouldn't chance it. Put some old towel down to catch any but i dont think there will be much as it looks pretty empty Maybe it would be worth running it into your local garage to get them to fix that if you're not confident? A phone call or two to replacement car hood companies or classic car restorer company might be able to source you the correct fluid for it beforehand
  18. Looks like it could be a relatively easy fix, the white pipe as you said does look new so it may have been done a little while ago because of a split in the pipe but not sealed properly and has been gradually leaking since. Rather than just try and tighten i woud undo it first. Looks like standard gas/plumbing fittings so if it hasnt been sealed properly to start with tightening wont help. Check for an olive (o ring) on the pipe or red looking sealant on the threads of fittings. Would replace olive (o ring) and reseal before tighten up but dont overtighten. The fluid i would imagine is ordinary hydraulic fluid like we would use on power steering but dont quote me on that one - can you see what colour it is from the leaking? red?
  19. I took a look in my vert manual covering the gen 6 roof to see if was any similarities that could help but i think they must work differently , also hope you can get it sorted but if it works on hydraulics then i can only think that there must be a pump (something like power steering pump) that is faulty causing it to operate slowly and would also explain the noise
