  1. Had the car 5 years now, not really spent too much on her apart from the usual service parts, Full brake & suspension rebuild last year did put quite a big hole in the savings that was about £1200.00 but did include paying a garage to do some work which i just couldn't be bothered / didn't have time to do. (BIG mistake) I suppose over the years it soon totts up so I sopped counting really.

  2. not sure on the damage side of things, as not tried it, but cant you just get a rag wraped around it then a sat of vice grips on the braided section, just enough pressure to stop a leak?

other than that, a bolt/nut and two washers will be fine.

and yeah, its not so much the master cylinder, its getting air through the ABS modul;e that can be a royal pain in the ass to bleed through properly.

The problem with this is that inside the braided hose is a plastic tube, once this is crushed the then the inner bore of the does not return to it's original size, plus you could split it and the braiding will hide up any damage.

Rubber hosing can be clamped using some thin nose mole grips with a couple of sockets on the end. Round edges dont damage the hose.

Make up some clamps like Gazza 1286 has shown, they look simple, cheap & effective.

  3. Went out to the car this morning and noticed the front O/S one looking rather deflated. Checked it an it only had 6psi in :o

Got the compressor out and re-inflated it, then checked for nails, screws or damage, none found thankfully, Tyre has held pressure all day and had only dropped 0.5 psi when I re-checked this evening. But one thing I did notice is that they tyres are getting down close to the wear bars, so time for a new set of boots.

I am currently running a non-descript matching set of 215/40/17, I think they are Maxiss or something like that, anyway they were black, round & legal. So now I am after another set.

I am quite happy with the size of tyre & the profile, but was wondering if anyone has got any recommendations to what I should put on. Don't want megga cheapies, but on the other hand I can't justify megga expensive ones either.

Over to you guys to persuade / advise on what black circles I should get and a rough guestimate on price.

reminder to myself (and a cheeky plug) I am on the hunt for a set of rims too, if anyone has or knows of a set going

  4. Lesson learnt - if it ain't budging you probably need to drill it out

Been doing a lot of that in recent months on the Celica. Seized then sheared caliper slider pin, Sheared off two bolts on exhaust manifold heat shield, had a seized ABS sensor , various fasteners on the plastic undertray all sheared off.

All of then drilled out and, where needed, re-tapped. and new fasteners fitted.

The ABS sensor was a nightmare, plastic, steel, magnets, copper wire and making sure you don't drill too far and catch the trigger ring.

Seems that most of the smaller fasteners on Toyotas are made of Crapalunium or Shitanium. But I suppose it is better than being made out of Unobtanium. ;)

  5. A bit late for you now :( , I was taught to always wire brush around the bleed nipple a day or two in advance and spray with Plus gas, don`t bother wd40 each to there own method but I prefer to use a decent ring spanner, I think it lets me see and be in control more.

Good luck with the others :)

Same here, Always use a ring spanner as it gives equal pressure on the hex flats on the bleed nipple

  6. At the end of the day it is always upto the buyer and their experiences. I hope you do well in selling them. and sorry if I have offended you in any way. I could say more, but i have said I will leave it at that.

One final thing though, you ought to try making some A pillar rain guards,(saw your post on FB) now that would make loads of money, and it's a cosmetic mod so no harm to handiing :D
