  1. Had a toad ai606 on 3 previous cars and would have one on the gen7 if the standard alarm wasn't adequate. Safe'n'sound fitted mine for about £300 with closure add-ons and proximity sensors. Has all the options for remote start etc if you want to add them.

As for your fears about a tracker watching your speed, don't you have a 140 anyway? :P

  2. Well on the drive in to work this morning on the M27 this band new big ugly silver lump this morning with GT6 and TURBO written all over the back wanted to play. Well for the 10 seconds that I could still see him! I had to google when I got in to find out that Rover really were making this pile of shit. With the weight of the car and the grunt of the engine I am surprised they even bothered, for all the big flashy badges on the back they should have put them on the front as that is where most people would see them, well that is until it disappears in your mirrors.

Not sure what car you mean?

  3. This is an idea I've stolen from another forum I used to use...

    Rules are-

-If you've received something interesting for your Celica (be it big, or small) you post up an image. If it's obvious enough then there's no need for a description, or you could get people guessing...even just from the packaging if you so wish.

-Post up what you paid for it. This could be a bargain or RRP if you bought new or from auction, it helps indicate to other users the sort of price of things they may also wish to buy...

-Post up where you bought it from

    To summarise- Pic, Price, Where?

I'll get the ball rolling (this just got delivered)...

    Car Audio Direct for £199...

  4. I was looking at 320d's before settling on the Celica as I was hoping to save money on fuel. As it happened nearly all the BMWs in my budget were as rough as assholes and many had rust (ok 2 out of the 3 I looked at) whilst inside they are nice places to be I just couldn't find any reason for the insurance cost vs. the car I was getting. It's expensive no matter what and I'll only ever own a BMW when I can afford a fairly new, highly-specced model and insurance on top!

Don't do it mate, you'll likely only be disappointed.

If you don't do too many miles but want a small fun car what I'd do is buy a Yaris T-sport with the 1.5 engine. So rapid around town but also well-equipped, so you can save your pennies for something really meaty.

Before anyone says they're a shopping cart I couldn't 'outrun' one from the lights in my Celica until I hit the top of 2nd gear ;)

  5. Not the worst thread by far buddy. I've seen the toyota child seats advertised on eBay before, maybe there is a contact number you could try?

I was in a similar position to yourself very recently, unfortunately my girlfriend has now had her second miscarriage so I'm in no hurry to sell the Celica off just yet, also what with using child seats belongning to our nephews recently proved that it can be done easy, and there would be loads of access if my drivers seat would slide forward when I asked it....

  6. Thing is if you need a decent runner is that parts on the BMW won't be as cheap as other cars if you should need them. Something common and cheap like an Astra (not as soul-destroying to drive as you might think!) would tick more boxes? If the shit hit my fan tomorrow then I would think nothing of selling up for an old Peugeot 306, but only because I know them inside-out! The 1.8 16v is frugal and parts are cheap.

  7. The appeal of a BMW is definitely there, I would love one instead of the Celica (don't shoot me) but I would not have a 318! It's just wrong. 150hp is 'enough' for a car of that size but I think a BMW should be a 6 cylinder affair, or a diesel...

140 Celica makes sense but won't be as practical as a BMW, have you considered a Corolla? Same kind of thing but cheaper (not that it will turn any heads!)
