  1. ive a lot of time for toyota as a brand , ive dicked about with almost every car creater be it italian or british , american or japanese , to me the japanese just screw the dam things together better , as a rule though i tend to look at toyota first based on a few things , mazda have made some awfull shit over the years , that wankel engine is a pile of shit and should have been dumped years ago , cool looking cars but not upto the other japanese car manufacturers , mitsubishi then not be either boring or extreme , no middle ground , reliability they arnt great , honda are arguably the very best with a brilliant range of cars and reliability to die for but most are to dam boring , i mean a car call a jazz !!!! toyota on the other hand would get bored with that and lash a turbo in there so respect due , its a crying shame the generation of cars from toyota worth having stopped around 2000 , seems the future will be ourselfs creating forced induction on the toyota range
  2. my thoughts are brokers arnt there to help out us the customers but simply to get as much bizz as possible , there no friends to anyone but themselves so no insurance thread ever surprises me any more , i guess in the dim and distant past as you were face to face with brokers they gave a shit slightly more due to wanting repeat business , these days it seems its fook it and theres plenty more fools out there
  3. yeah it was that or a chip off ebay , only 15 quid init
  4. cost ? depends on who does the work , needs a new head gasket which is great as once changed its there for another 150 thou but thats the only major cost other than labour would it create more of a strain ? ummmmm well yes and no , the top end is a weak link in all cars , generally speaking the bottom ends over engineered , the top end also has alot more to go wrong so in essence yes it does put a little more strain thanks to the following , the car will rev faster and be more responsive , it will feel alot more smooth ( less stress then ) and will pull harder and faster than ever before ( more stress ) , it will return more to the gallon ( bonus and a recovery of funds ) whilst needing less throttle to assume the normal speeds you travel at ( aha so less stress ) , gas flowing is the removal off all the poor casting from the factory , when items are cast the surface is like the moon , a machine is used to smooth all these down allowing gasses to exit and enter faster and easier , the result is the engine has a much easier time and the engine is better for it , it could be argued that due to the extra power then it is more likely to be used hence its not clear cut to say the engines likely to last less time or not after being done , oh its also likely the top end would be ported , this is enlargeening of the holes the exhaust gasses and fuel flow into thus allowing more to travel , an engineer would also most likely change the valve stem oil seals at the same time plus maybe skim the head ( extra compression = yet more power )
  5. yes and no , milage does a few things , it creates slop in the bores and has carbon build up with plugs holes so gasses dont flow as good as they should if you want a few more ponys then get the head taken off and gas flowed , the car will feel alot peekier and will feel so much stronger for it , you could in the future aim for vrs items to get a bit more go
  6. fook off my starter motors got more power than that , mines got a gadzillion trillion bazillion and 2 bhp , its 19 wheel drive and has vvti and v-tec and warp drive , i even had the star ship enterprise away from the lights and that wasnt giving it death , if i use more than 200 rpm in first my eyes bounce off the back of my skull , well thats what my mate said and hes got a scooby and everyfin
  7. say hello if ever your around all the very best
  8. aim for another 200 thou ? so you demod and sell , who knows what the next car has in store for you , there cheap cars so people treat them like shit so its not easy to find a great car for reasonable money , if i were you id not worry , go with the flow , in time if it needs an engine then so be it and thats life but concider this ,,,, a new car loses 50 quid a week in depreciation , for a sports car this could be upto 200 a week ???? so every mile you drag out of the old girl your in profit
  9. not sure if mines got a lsd . the chassis tag says s54 or e54 , cant remember now anyway i guess mines got ohhhh 675 thousand brake horse power seeing as were just throwing number up in the air , my gearbox is so close ratio if i use it i go back in time , just the sort of car for people with a disability
  10. this is never going to work for me the vert 1. looks , not really 2. performance , yes and no , it should be scarey quick ? if the roof counts then yes 3. comfort , not a feckin chance 4. handling , also listed in the ``you have got to be shittin me `` 5. relability , hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha 6. practical. Big boot, fold down seats , no boot , yes to fold down seats , bet no-one knows that , errrrrr no the cs 1. looks , yep 2. performance , oh yes 3. comfort , yep 4. handling , yep 5. relability , yep 6. practical , yep 7. and more the beams 1. looks , nope , it was a dog 2. performance , sort of , going to germany counts doesnt it ? 3. comfort , nope 4. handling , springs are shit 5. relability , sort of but no 6. practical. sort of but no again , id buy a van if needed i dont seem to be able to click anything good thread though
  11. got to ask yourself ,,,, why ? bet it cost approx twice as much as buying a tt
  12. i use mine as a van , today it was a couple of bags of sand , couple of gravel and cement , biggest thing i ever carried was a 10 foot xmas tree , some of it was in the car , bloody big chunk wasnt
  13. only i person smokes in my car , hes 6 foot 5 tall , wide and angry , you try telling him he cant have a fag
  14. at 7100 rpm its a massive stop in the rev range so in effect i cant redline it , how offen above 5500 rpm ? perhaps a different question but lets say more offen than not , certain roads then its a done deal
  15. not possible to say , if i see something i buy it as and when something comes up , this month is perhaps a bit of a 1 off as ill proberbly spend over 2 grand
  16. not long ago myself and our kid were at the car auctions , a celica rolls through , 55 plate tsport , it sold at £2250 the point ? could be just tatty and he wants shot quickly , could be a con , pop along and find out
  17. the 45 is the hight of the tyre as you look at it from the side of the wheel im thinking the width of the tyre , it your running say 215 they can be streched happly onto a 7.5 wheel bt will sit taller on a 7 incher , same tyres but the profile being altered
  18. pauls cock on with condition at vrs large jap shows theres always a good turnout from the starlet/glanza owners , looking around most are errrrr sheds i think is fair to say , the quality of most modifed cars is awfull , im not being cruel , its an observation , the quantity of cars with aircleaners in fron of the rad held on with rip ties and bits of wire is not good , also very very poorly fitted rads , dump valves and general body panels , its a shame , a good car really shows where most are enjoyed rather than cherished , theres also rust issues on the early stuff to watch out for , the later stuff suffers from being crashed and fixed ``by a mate ``, i guess a good example is ours has had a front end shunt at some point judging by the quantity of overspray , everything is straight so no tears but do look outfor it
  19. profile of the tyres ? you sure there both 7j ?
  20. 10 minute job to bypass , needs a foot or so of hose and thats it high milage ? sorry cant help you , they all seem to come with silly low miles , ours has 62 thou
  21. we own an ep91 glanza V the bad stuff is room be it inside or the boot , we have an amp plus a couple of 6x9`s and the boots almost useless , im under 6 foot and yet find it very crampted to drive , the seat just wont go far enough back , mpg is always 20 mph regardless of how we drive which being honest it as fast as possible , the suspension is soggy as hell being standard , i dont find the car fast at all , on a recent run our kid said he had problems keeping up in his st202 but it doesnt feel fast to me so ? its clear the cars built to a budget and celicas feel like rolls royces after a few weeks of buzzing around in a glanza the good stuff is the cars ok , good fun to drive , looks nice and doesnt have the chavvyness of some small hatchbacks when you stick 16`s on it and a bit of plastic , the excellerations ok i guess and although others complain i find the brakes perfect , over all the cars quite nice and although i personnaly would be bored to tears if i had it as an only car id recommend it to others i also brought our kid a glanza S , that was a nice car , lowered and loud , looked the part and apart from revving it till 11 just to pull away it was a nice enough car to drive , the stereo was a waste of time driving it back from manchester , oh and it could do 50 mpg and was happly into the 40`s most of the time from all acounts , i liked that little buzz box
  22. shocking , i was eyeing this up in halfords just a couple of days ago ,i have a bottle of mer already ( £13.99 ) which is good stuff but expensive and thought i could do with some more wax and was fingering this , i guess im about to find out so thanks for the link
  23. joes 100% correct , hes refering to a dust spray , you spray the finished primer with a dust of a darker colour and then rub back until all the darker overspray has gone away making a perfect surface for the first coat of base coat can i just say that primer is porios , the car can or will start to rust when its just in primer so id advise to get a base coat on it asap rather than run around for a couple of weeks waiting for the right day , you may find rust making bubbles in the filler if you dont , other than this its coming along nicely
  24. looks and sounds like your doing fine fella id use 800 or 1200 wet and dry ( use it wet every time with a drop of washing up liquid in the warm water ) between the coats , any harsher may leave marks in the paint
