  1. Yep, all 5's had those fitted, whether they had Live Sound up front or not Nothing to get excited about unfortunately
  2. Yep, sounds like the same one, not read it much recently, last i heard he had done himself a nasty injury, something like chopping off a finger i think, but i don't have a subscription to the OC anymore
  3. Is that the guy who cut off one of his fingers or something , amazing build if it's the one i'm thinking of
  4. Also, if you can't do the engine swap yourself you'd be looking at at least £400-£500 for a garage to do it for you, and that's excluding the engine
  5. I'd take a wild guess at hydrolock, you more than likely sucked up some water through the air intake, the engine then can't compress it so the piston has to go somewhere, in your case out the side of the block
  6. Bloody hell, you've done well to do that to a 3SGE, they are pretty much bullet proof
  7. Hahaha, so so true Although for the record, i don't wear chino's or own a flat cap
  8. Funnily enough, most of the hella stanced cars round here are all pretty much base model Golfs/Polos/Civics and the like, 1.3/1.4 engines, just no need having engine power when you can only drive at 20 mph
  9. Yeah, i mean i'm a huge fan of a firm sporty ride, but everyone has their limit and i never imagined coilovers would make the ride as bad as it did over uneven British roads
  10. Not round these parts , stanced is all about going as low as physically possible in my book I got to our local Lowdown meet to photo the cars there, and i would say they are pretty much all what i would class as stanced Stanced like a mother trucker
  11. Personally i would suggest that the OP get a ride in a stanced car If you have never driven/been driven in a stanced car you really can't comment as it really is an acquired taste to say the least And i don't just mean a drive around a super smooth shopping centre car park at a meet, i mean a proper drive on public roads with speed bumps Even fitting coilovers can ruin a car on a daily basis, i wish i had never fitted mine as that was one of the many reasons i finally lost all the love for it, don't get me wrong it was great on a spirited drive on nice smooth roads, but was a total chore on the drive to work, and i wasn't even running it dick head low either
  12. I hope you swat up and memorise every law in the land then As said, be courteous and they will be courteous back most of the time, i am yet to have been bothered by a jobsworth Police officer
  13. As i always say, if you are pleasant to the Police, 9 times out of 10 they are pleasant back, obviously in and profession you will get the odd jobsworth, and if you start kicking off for being stopped they will more than likely try and do you for something I have always been courteous to the Police when stopped and never been booked for anything yet
  14. And totally ruin any handling capability the Celica once had
  15. Yes, but you are into your cars, the WPC may have no interest in cars so didn't know the difference, but now she does, so everyone is happy Don't forget ill fitting HID's too
  16. Because not every Cop knows every law inside out, hence why the WPC got a Traffic Cop who know the laws regarding cars better than she did, what is so wrong with that Why are people always so quick to criticise the Poilce for trying to do their job, it really does make me angry (and you wouldn't like me when i'm angry ) A good bit of advice about placement of DLR there though Smith, didn't know about that, cheers
  17. x3 If it was a purely show/weekend car, then slam it on it's arse, if it's a daily then just stick to some decent quailty lowering springs as coilovers get very tiresome very quickly on our fantastic UK roads Also, seems pointless turning a fantastic handling coupe into a terrible handling coupe by slamming it
  18. Not knowing where you live, that does sound illegal as i believe you have to take it to the nearest MOT station, or at the very least one within reasonable distance, i.e. you couldn't buy a car with no MOT in the Highlands of Scotland and drive it all the way to Devon for its MOT, that is 100% illegal
  19. As stated above, unless it was deemed unsafe then yes i would And as said before, your car could become unMOTable within a month of having your test done, does that mean that you are irresponsible if you drive around for the remaining 11 months in an unroadworthy car, should MOT's become a monthly thing then? No it doesn't and as stated if that were the case MOT garages shouldn't allow any MOT failed car to ever be allowed back on the road, but this is not the case
  20. Still probably no worse than cheap Chinese ditch finders though, and you don't have to declare those to your insurance company
  21. But something could break within a month of having an MOT done that will effectively make you car unroadworthy for the next 11 months Unless every car that is ever involved in a claim then has to pass a roadworthness test then surely an MOT is granted for 1 year, so should last for 1 whole year I even know of a guy who wrote his car off with an expired MOT (about 2 weeks out of date), he still got paid out but lost about 5% of the payout as the insurance company penalised him for not having an up to date MOT Also, what if your car was broken into, would it still be covered without an MOT????
  22. Insurance companies just get more and more ridiculous How would fitting Winter tyres to you car in Winter make any difference to your insurer, it's not like you are going to fit massive 20" chrome spinners with Winter tyres onto a car that runs all year on steelies It would make more sense if you had to declare if you were running on ditch finders rather than a decent mid/top range tyre
