  1. Going to use my lambda, while its out, whats the best way to clean it out? I dont really have a blowtorch, but i do have a bar that I use as a breaker bar. What size bolts do I need to get to replce them old ones with?
  2. Cheers Matt, made my mind up that I'm going to go the exhaust replacement myself
  3. so is the consensus I do the exhaust myself?
  4. ok thanks, what reason will i not need and angle grinder, the bolts on the CAT and down pipe to manifold look well rusty. As im replacing the whole lot, what do I actually need to unbolt to get the exhaust off the car, the less bolts to undo the better. do you know what gaskets i need? as in where they go? do I need gaskets between each joint? Down pipe to cat, cat to middle sections and middle section to back box? Also is the lambda sensor screw in or bolt on for the ST? sorry for the ton of questions, but im going to do the job myself now this week! Just got the exhaust down to £161 on euro car parts
  5. Do I need to take the manifold off? I dont have an angle grinder either, so would that prevent me from possibly doing the exhaust job?
  6. Need to replace the whole exhaust system this week on the Celica. I'm tempted to do it my self to save some money, It will cost me £175 in exhaust parts if I was to replace the down pipe, middle section and back box, keeping my CAT as its still ok. Or getting my local good garage to do it will cost £325 for the parts and fitting. Thoughts? Is it a relitivly easy thing to do myself on my drive with a trolly jack or an I going to find difficulties replacing it? it really needs doing asap as it sounds like i drive a imprezza at the moment and fuel and power is not good all the time i have holes in each section lol. Im happy to go order my exhaust today, but im a little weary about any troubles I might have along the way about removing the old one and fitting the new one. Im pretty good as putting my hands to most things, but if i get stuck along the way and only get half the exhaust off, i wont be able to drive it haha. Its only the 1.8 ST so room around the engine isnt going to be an issue to get the down pipe off. Any helpfull hints and tips would be really much appreceiated
  7. I know, not best photo, but only one I have that's on the computer already
  8. Any idea what wheels these are fitted to my Celica??
  9. everyting else worksbut the siren, all indicators flash when doors are opened while alarm is active. Plus the led on the centre console tells me the alarm has been set off by flashing really fast. Can only guess that the siren is knacked. No idea is Toyota still sell them? £46 according to some old posts on some other site...
  10. Front and Rear suspension bushes, thanks Matt1280 Fitted them too, no more knocking!!! new vs old
  11. there some toyota sirens in ebay, but non from a celica, wonder if they work? horn would be good tho
  12. I have read on some site just now that over time, water can get into the siren as its located quite low down under the battery/expansion bottle. I did open up the siren box and there was a bit of corrosion on the PCB near where the wires are that feed the speaker siren. Also the backup batteries looked like they have seen better days too. Is it possible to wire the alarm to the horn? or just fix another universal siren to the exisiting wires?
  13. I have the original TVSS IIIB alarm fitted, the siren is under the battery tray next to the coolent expansion bottle. There's no key thing on it.
  14. Alarm siren never goes off as such but the alarm does if you know what I mean lol I can trigger the alarm by locking the car and then opening the doors to set it off (as it were). The flashers all go and the red led flashes fast to show that the alarm has been tripped. But the actual siren makes no noise. I've had the siren out and all the wires are ok, internal gubbins looks fine too. Is there a fuse somewhere that might have blown that powers the siren that I can check?? Thanks all Ps its a gen 6 tvss alarm
  15. cheers all might see if I can get a pair of US or CAN rear light clusters then might pop over on the 6gc.net and have a look!
  16. Just looking at making the rear lights a little different if I dont go down the JDM late spec route. I see the US Celica's have corner lights on their rear clusters. Would this be illegal in the UK? I know some Euro spec cars have front and rear corner lights like some volvos, BMW's etc. But would swapping over my rear lights to these be ok? couple of photos to show what i mean? anyone on here done it?
  17. Just done it, I put a blanket all over the working area, 2 mins and it was off
  18. haha cheers, if I go down the grinder route, Im going to make sure I have isolated the tank and filler pipe really well in wet blankets and make sure no part other than the drop link is exposed.
  19. not sure if I want to take that risk tbh, I couldn't smell fuel as I was under it for hours today, but the filler neck is looking a bit rusty, so who knows!! think I would rather spend 15 mins with a saw than risk blowing the car up haha
  20. safe I guess spend a few quid on a new sharp hack saw, like I say, its the last one that wont budge I could cut half way through and then snap it off with some mole grips!
  21. cheers will do, shouldn't take long to cut through the drop link bolt. 30 seconds tops. I cant think of any other way to get it off, maybe a hack saw?
  22. Hey all, just a quick question, Im replacing my rear drop links as they have now given up. They look like the originals and im stuck on the last bolt, it wont budge, even with the breaker bar out. So im going to take the angle grinder to the bolt to get the link off. question is, is it safe to use an angel grinder as the drop link I want to remove is right next to the fuel filler neck area. is there any precautions I should take, or is it safe to just go ahead a cut the bolt off?
  23. Happy Anniversary wintersun!
