guynecologist
The original 6 speed knob in my GT was looking a bit tatty, looked like the last owner wore the chrome off the insert using their wedding ring. Today I got this TRD GT86 knob from Canada. Screws straight on to the existing lever. There is about 3mm gap between the bottom of the knob and the chrome top of the gaiter. which you can adjust out. guynecologist
Yep that's where I got it from. Had to pay import charges, and the Post Offices "Handling Fee". Not sure what handling was involved, as it was the same depot I go to for parcels from the UK and I don't pay a fee. Perhaps should be worded Post Office Directors annual bonus fee. They added about £16 to the cost GRRR! Still cheaper cheaper than on from Mr T in the UK though :-) Was not to keen on the alloy ring next to the chrome ring on the gaiter. so the chrome gaiter is now black using insulating tape :-) , The gap between the knob and the gaiter was closed by putting a rubber washer under the gaitor cover Edited August 30, 2013 by guynecologist
GT Bob
Looks great, may consider one myself. You can actually get the original cap re-chromed for a small cost, mine is ok at the moment and I try not to catch my wedding ring on it.

Where can you get it re-chromed, I have a 'Rolla T-Sport knob that was worn, so I sanded it down to paint, but I want it chrome again!

Wtf I am gutted but also happy too as I was going to get one of these but was told it wouldn't fit my gen 7 GT so instead I got my two genuine gt gear knobs rechromed. However I will now keep both of them as spares and get myself a TRD one. Hope you don't mind me asking but how much was it including shipping and do you have contact details so that I can order one of these please. Try these but there are plenty more firms out there http://www.chromefix.co.uk/ I got my original one rechromed and the guys have done such a fantastic job I have taken my spare one and Hoody01 on here, read my thread and saw the picture and has sent one too me to get his rechromed with my spare one also. The place is called Specialised Polishing Services and is at Thetford. I was amazed when I got my first one back as it is like brand spanking new factory finish.just got to remember to make sure I don't have my wedding ring on when I drive the car!!!!! (my wife is sitting here laughing not at the taking the ring off but at the driving the car.it only comes out in the very nice weather lol). The before picture has the wear marks around the number three and has a blue background and the rechromed one has no marks and a white background.... guynecologist
Hi I got it from these folk in Canada, had to pay extra as mentioned above because of the import duty etc, Still was cheaper than going to Toyota though. Took about 10 days to arrive http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scion-FRS-Toyota-86-FT86-GT86-TRD-shift-knob-manual-tranmission-/121148589036?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c3504c3ec
Lewisek
Liking that a lot, the red stitching matching the seats is classy. I need a new knob before too long having seen this.

I have just ordered one for my gen 7 GT. Just to let you know that when i order my parts from Japan or the US or anywhere else (which I have done for years even when i owned my scooby), They always gift them to me which means I dont have to pay import tax!!!!! I dread to think how old I am from the amount of birthdays I have had.
guynecologist
To close the gap between the underside of the knob and the top of the gaiter bezel . I removed the gear lever surround slid one these cable grommets onto the shifter shift then put the gaiter and surround back on, which moved the gaiter bezel a few mm upwards
