harv_j
Woke up bright & early to find my new 3 week old 255 35 19 tyre is flat ... I think it was a slow puncture, i cant see any visible or obvious causes so its hopefully just a poor seal. Anyway, my question is how long can you have foam in the tyre before you need to get it replaced? I know that if i fill it with foam, i will have to replace the tyre completely etc. Cheers! keef-b
Probably a bad seal as you say and with the cold weather allowed it to open up. No idea on needing to replace the tyre, i was always under the impression that once the foam was in the tyre needed binned If you have not driven on it would it not be better to get the wheel to a tyre place and have it checked out before gunking it up with foam? Lex_GTS
I'd say its probably corrosion around the inside of the rim if its 3 weeks old. Don't go foaming that, that would just be an incredible way of throwing money away. And those aren't cheap tyres. Having said that... Those tyre sizes are so wrong

Yeah i know, going to get it checked. I was just wondering hypothetically for future. I'd say its probably corrosion around the inside of the rim if its 3 weeks old. Those tyre sizes are so wrong Your right, they are expensive Not corrosion, the wheels were refurbed when i bought the car in November. They are the wrong size for a Celica ... they wouldnt even fit in the arch Dont worry, i'm not going to go straight out there & foam the shit out a new tyre before i get someone to refit it, that would be silly. Lex_GTS
I always watch when they're fitting my tyres, they should spread some adhesive around the edge of the wheel before tyre goes on so no air can escape. Be worth checking if there's any nails etc in the tyre. I got three punctures in a month, two were nails and one was rim corrosion so rushed and bought new wheels. Seemed that the lower the profile the easier I picked them up too

planc
Here's what you need to do Harv When I tried that at work (admittedly with brake cleaner rather than lighter fuel) I managed to singe my eyebrows and curly mop.
