Stupid question time

Is it possible to shorten the intake valve time on a gen 5 or 6 GT4 and having the valve close sooner?

I kind of know how the VVti engines work in the 7's and how the Fiat (there is some logic begind this) multiair engines work in that the intake valves open later and close sooner making for better torque figures as well as "economy" and fuel consumtion.

Like Tom said its all done by cam timing and cam profiles, the only thing other thing you can do is maybe makes sure all your clearances are at their lower limit, go to far and the valve wont close when up to temperature. Dorris

would using different cams just close the valve later? or would the whole cycle be changed to open later and close sooner on inlet phase?

This can be changed by using vernier cam wheels to alter the timing. Dorris
