corollakid
Did anyone see the topic on Ceefax yesterday saying that in the near future car engines will be fired by laser instead of sparking plugs. They say it will improve emissions and fuel consumption as more of the unburnt fuel will be ignited and the company that produces the laser is in discussions with a major sparking plug manufacturer (NGK, Champion?). rpsmith79
Ceefax...................... CEEFAX....................... bloody hell, didn't know Ceefax was still around Sounds like a good idea though, until you have to come round to servicing them, or they fail and you have to replace them, that will be a costly repair bill
Parafuso
Saw that on BBC website, supposidly it would the lasers would pin-point various pionts in the cyliner ensuring better combustion or summin to that affect. I think they mentioned denso as the manufacturer
corollakid
If they can make them for the same price as the titanium plugs (approx £40 for 4) and they last the same amount of time ie 60,000 miles then they could well be worth it. And yes Ceefax still exists in the East Midlands and long may it do so (well till October anyway).
Gen6GT
Old hat... been around since 2006 so it may be a while before we can actually get our hands on them. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn8907-invention-laser-spark-plugs.html
