John.drum
Anyone know where the nearest Celica specialist is to Newcastle upon Tyne? I have been having issue with power from my T Sport for a while now and it would be nice to have a specialist look at it to see if they can work out what is going on. rich_p
There's Paul Woods of Woodsport in Durham, by all accounts a massive Toyota fanatic and currently transplanting a V6 into a Gen7. http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/173560-gen-7-rx300-vvti-v6-conversion/ As you say the car is a T sport, is the problem anything to with Lift not kicking in as it should? There a couple of things that can be looked at without too much trouble if it is. Cheapest is cleaning the oil control valve and filter, http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=250432 Early lift bolts have been known to break but are reportedly an easy change, although it is most common in prefacellift (2003) models http://www.billswebspace.com/2ZZLiftBoltReplacement.htm As Kev has asked though what sort of issues are you getting? It may in fact be more general engine trouble caused by MAF sensor, ignition system etc. Do you have any warning lights on the dash?
John.drum
Thank you for the replies. The main issue is that there is no power when pulling away and it struggles on hills. I have done all the easy stuff myself, such as full service, new plugs, cleaned the MAF and replaced a binding caliper, but still having issues. It's just a process of elimination at the moment. I am getting a rattle when pulling away so not sure whether the exhaust has a slight blow near the front. Although if this was the case i can't imagine much power would be lost. Lift seems to be working fine, it's just the power at low revs. Stop start traffic is a nightmare!
